Modulus Mob

Back in the last club thread, Kinetic Shadow helped me out, gave me the cheapest source for the Gotoh Reso Lites and I went for it. They are drop-in replacements. They fixed the slight neck dive in my Q5. Highly recommended!

I got them from Buzzard Bass. The owner is a dick and communication was zero, but I got them fairly quickly and they were the least expensive vendor at the time.

Thanks MarTONE - I forgot these were out there (and discussed in the previous thread). I think it may be time to save my pennies and make the switch...

Hey Mob, I just listed this unique BSQ4XL with rare matching headstock in the Classifieds

The bass in the video above is now for sale. My dream bass is up for grabs and I regretfully have to let one go to snag it. I hate selling basses, but as a father of 2 and a high school teacher, its what I have to do sometimes to make the right choices for my musical projects, and unfortunately, the Phish band is no more.

As you can see and hear, this Q5 is very special.

Well, then the question is what's your dream bass? What's your next gig?

Currently, I find myself in 3 projects with horn sections. The Modulus just isn't cutting it in those dense mixes for my ears. I miss my Lakland 5594 dearly and found one in trans amber over quilted maple. It just happend to also have a BEM board on a flame maple neck with old Barts!
I try not to get emotionally attached to instruments, rather tailor my basses to the music I'm playing. It's definitely bittersweet saying goodbye to such a fantastic example.
Worry not, as soon as I start making better money, I'll own another Modulus!

Just checking in to say, I'm still rocking my FU4 and it is not going anywhere. I've been offloading a few basses of late and this one has made the cut the last four rounds. Probably put more into it with mods and upgrades than it's worth on the market anyway :D

It's just one of those basses that can't be replicated with anything but a Modulus.

OK Pete, got you man!

After about an hour or so of working on my Q5, I got the setup nearly perfect. I have decided to keep it after all. GAS is a KILLER, but sometimes you just have to look at what you have and be happy, and I am dammit!

Anyone who thinks a Modulus never needs a truss rod adjustment should think again. I gave mine a good clockwise turn this weekend and OH BABY, I'm in love all over again!

It's so humid here in WV during the spring and summer that my Q6 also has to be tweaked a little as well. Still an enormous improvement over my old Carvin and really only needs adjusting because of EXTREME weather.

When I bought my 2009 Q5 a month ago from the TB classifieds (has Nordstrands/Aguilar OBP3 setup), I was not loving the action. After adjusting at the bridge, I ended up turning the truss rod 180 degrees daily for 6 days until I got the action where I wanted it. It definitely made me nervous! I went ahead and backed it off a little bit (270 degrees) since then and am now completely happy with the setup.
I still love the pre-truss rod era Modulus necks for their slim profile. Jazz necks vs P necks, IMHO.
When I receive my newest one, i'll post a group shot
