Modulus Mob

And here is my Q6. It's a 2001, alder body, phonolic fretboard. My Q5 was perfectly balanced so I was a little disappointed when I received the Q6 because it was neck heavy. A set of hipshot ultralite tuners took care of that though. Came with EMG 45DC pickups and the BQC system but I swapped out the bridge pickup with a 45TW. This is now my main bass

Do you have a pic of the tuners/back of the headstock? Remeber which ones they are? Thinking of doing the same thing- my Q5 has the res-o-lites (came that way when I got it here on TB), and while I have no complaints about my Q6's (albeit a TBX so it's heavy) balance, I like the look of the Hipshots' exposed gears better..

Hey Fred, I am interested in your thoughts on the Aggie cabs if we get them. Looks like we will so keeping my Modulus fingers crossed. I am curious about our low B through those cabs.

I've got 2 SL's and I couldn't be happier with how they handle the low b's (even a's when I've tuned down). they're rear-ported (as are the db's), so you can't have them up against a wall or in a corner, but I'm happy with the ones I have, and have heard nothing but good things about the db's, so...

Nice. I have never played through Aggie stuff so I am curious about the sound. I honestly bought them for the price but looks like they are some pretty nice cabs.

That's kind of just how Q6's are. If you still find the neck too heavy, as aforementioned res-o-lites will help further. I did the same progression with my Q6 and it is finally nice and balanced.

Here's a shot of the ultralites. Not only do they balance out the bass, they look really cool too! With the amount of money one pays for these basses, I wonder why modulus would not spend a couple extra bucks and put something lighter up there to make their Q6 balanced.

Dang- didn't need to see that. They do look good... next time bestbassgear.com has a sale, looks like I'll be switching out all of mine... how much can 16 tuners cost :hmm: ?

My Modulus FU, which was made this year, didn't come with Modulus' own tuners, but some kind of Gotoh ones...

I think they were just rebadged gotoh's anyways- spector just started doing that with theirs. That panel comes off, so it's an easy swap. My modulus tuners and my gotohs all look the same overall

Hi,
I'm new in here, and I was asking myself what's this bass ?
It's a modulus, but it has a FB5ish pick up, but also have Qish neck, and that's the first time I see this jack's output emplacement on a Modulus. Plus, the battery thingy is made of metal. I'm confused !

Sorry for my english, trying my best.

That's a M-92, precursor to the Sweetspot (single pickup) basses. They date from, you guessed it, 1992 (although that one was made in 93'). They were essentially an entry level Quantum bass.

Thanks a lot for the fast reply !
Just one more question though,
soundwise, how is this bass, and to which modulus model is it the nearer ? It has a lot of specs of the Q, but with MM pick up configuration, could be nearer to FB/FU.
And the pricing ?
Could have on for a little 1000$, maybe a bit less, does it seems like a good deal ?

Thanks !

I've never played a FB/FU so I couldn't tell you. If I remember correctly, it has a 35" and a 18v preamp. $1,000 would be a pretty good deal.

Yes, all of the "Modulus" tuners are made by Gotoh. I really like the look of the Gotoh's on my Q5, but would definitely like something a bit lighter.

Back in the last club thread, Kinetic Shadow helped me out, gave me the cheapest source for the Gotoh Reso Lites and I went for it. They are drop-in replacements. They fixed the slight neck dive in my Q5. Highly recommended!

I got them from Buzzard Bass. The owner is a dick and communication was zero, but I got them fairly quickly and they were the least expensive vendor at the time.

Sorry, that just made me chuckle.

Made me chuckle too. Reminded me of a favorite movie,...

"Pu$$ies don't like dicks, because pu$$ies get f%##ed by dicks...etc....."

Name the movie.....:D

One of my all time top 10 films of all time....., as am matter of fact I keep the DVD in my office for the slow work days when no one is around and I really, really want to laugh my butt off.
