Modulus Mob

What are the differences between your Q6 and the TBX?? Neck thru? Anything else?

The Q6 has SGD pickups, an ACG preamp and natural burl maple top. The TBX is neck through, has EMG pickups and preamp and a pretty cool blue-> purple finish. I can post pix when I get home later this week.

The big difference in sound is that the Q6 has a deep and thick low end and the TBX has a deep and transparent low end. Both are room shaking but different and that's what makes it so hard to decide.

I've listed my Modulus Quantum 5 SPX Sweet Spot (1982?) on Craigslist if anyone is interested in seeing pictures. I'm still trying to get more specific info on the bass from Geoff Gould. There are pics on his Facebook page also.

Man do I have some questions now. So this isn't at all what I expected. It is Silver Burst, not black. It has Barts in it, not EMG's, It looks like it originally had 3 pick ups in it and now there is a cover plate over the middle hole. There is a chip out of the paint between the neck and the neck pickup on the treble side. It has 5 knobs and only one is not concentric, I am guessing Volume, Balance, Treble, Mid, Bass, but I will know for sure in a bit.
Don't know if it is a refin or not. Comments please. Even the Modulus Emblem at the headstock looks incorrect to me.
What do you think?

Most likely the angle of the shot but if anything the top of the headstock seems wider than the 94 spalted sweet spot that is up on Ebay currently. Logo is different from the one on my 88 Quantum but does look the same as on the 94 spalted. Despite the logo matching another 94 the headstock looks more like an 80s Modulus.

I kind of doubt the bass has been refinished and also doubt that there were ever Alembic series electronics in it. What kind of pre-amp is in this bass? A lot of the 80s quantums had three pickups. Possible that the pickups were changed at some point or the original buyer didn't want three pickups but didn't want to pay extra for a "custom" body routed for only two pickups. If you take off the back plate can you see if the center "pickup" is wired to anything?

I would send some pics to Geoff Gould, he may remember the bass particularly if it was a custom order.

Have fun putting it through its paces at rehearsal tonight!

Here are the electronics for the bass. I did buy it from GC New Orleans, but it was a super bad pic and they listed it as EMG's and as Black... Serial Number is 9415xx

I would still give them a call and get a partial refund since the pickups were not as described and would mention the chip in the paint by the neck. Also, if it was not obvious in the photo they showed that there was a 'third' pickup, nor was it disclosed then throw that in as well if you are planning on keeping it.
