Modulus Mob

It is kind of the same as the Q4, Q5 and Q6's as well. It seems that many of us are more after the Q5 and the Q6's can be found at a pretty low price compared to the Q5 and Q4's.. Everyone seems to be going nuts for the prices on all of the Mod's..

I was going to mention the one in New York, but you are in the UK. If you questioned the guy, I am sure you could get a great deal on it, but then he would have to be willing to ship it to you and he is selling Local Only! Stupid question, have you tried www.basschat.co.uk? Also, GC is a good look every now and again. I know there were some over in the TB sale section, but again, shipping is going to be an issue from the states to you in the UK..

I already mentioned this to ambientbassist, but there are brokers who will buy an item for you and ship it internationally. eBay also has an international shipping service where the seller ships to a local shipping center and then they take care of the international side. Just putting this out there for those who may not know about these options.

Am I the only one not remotely interested in selling my Modulus even though the prices have slightly inflated?

You are not alone ;)

Mine isn't going anywhere. :)

My FU4 is staying put, it's just one of those basses that makes me smile every time I play it.

Besides, I've put so much into it with the LP pickup, Flexcore pre, paint and neck refinishing that even at the slightly inflated prices, I'd still lose money :D

I posted this on a separate thread but i figured I should post it on the official Modulus thread. This is a 1989 Quantum SPX originally made for Keith Jones. I believe it is 34" scale with 26 frets, a flat thin neck, with EMG's.

Another Flea (black five string) just went for close to $1800.00. Seemed like it was in good condition, truss rod, etc.

Funny how some of the Modulus ads are touting "no longer being made" or something of that nature to add weight to that overused "rare" term that gets thrown around on the bay so much.

What is an SPX?? Cool bass. Never heard of SPX, but that would not surprise me any. Modulus did custom stuff all the time. Oh, also, how do you tell it is a SPX not a TBX, M92 or any of the other models?

I didn't know what all these meant until I saw this earlier in this thread from Roscoe East:

I'm pretty sure "TBX" came post 1988, probably closer to 1990. When I ordered my Modulus in 1988 they definitely did not have the "TBX" name; at that time they only used three model designations:

- the basic neck-thru instruments w/ narrow string spacing were just called "Quantum" w/ no suffix, just the # of strings (e.g., Quantum-5)

- the bolt-on instruments -- still w/ relatively narrow string spacing -- got the "SP" suffix (e.g., Quantum-5 SP)

- a bolt-on instrument with a (slightly) wider string spacing got the "SPX" suffix (e.g., Quantum-5 SPX)

It was only circa 1990 or '91, when they introduced the Integrated Neck Joint to their bolt-on models & started giving those the "Spi" suffix (e.g., Quantum-5 SPi) that Modulus started regularly referring to the neck-thru models as "TBX" (e.g., Quantum-5 TBX)
