Modulus Mob

There should be a club for those that want walnut topped Q5s....actually, anyone in the Gordo Club would qualify. ;-)

You mean like this one?:bassist:

Another Flea bass goes for a good amount $4000 on eBay. Crazy! Personally I think that's a lot of money to gamble on a non trussed bass.

Anyways, need some advice.

Do I keep my sparkle fu4 listed on eBay or should I put a few hundred into it to fix some of the carbon headstock dings in the clearcoat, knob, screws and then relist?

It's obvious the paint chip on the front cant be color matched though so I don't know if it matters.

Or do you think it will still go for around same price as is.

I think it's an interesting predicament :)

I just learned of the bankruptcy, peeking my interest in the 1981 Modulus 5 string I've played since 1989. I'd love to share pictures if someone could explain how. Mine is the bass Joel DiBartolo played daily on the Tonight Show throughout the 80's. I never thought much about it, but this must be one of Modulus' first 5 string basses.

I also saw that Flea with the Lane Poor on eBay. I agree with evilchuck...alot of $$$$ for a non-truss rodded 4 string. I recently picked up a beautiful like new Q5 Sweetspot with a gorgeous quilted Amber top, arrow straight neck, and a Lane Poor soapbar for (way way way way) less that I might be persuaded to sell if anyone is sad about missing that Flea! And FWIW, my opinion is that the the MM Bassline pickup sounds every bit as amazing as that original MM Lane Poor on the Flea/FU basses.

Wasn't really a fan of the Bassline with the OBP-3. I put in a split coil Lane Poor that was originally made for a Lakland 44-94 and added a Mike Pope Flexcore with a blend pot - Wow!

Now I can use the neck side coil, both or bridge side coil - really added a lot of tonal possibilities.

I wonder what that would go for - NOT that I'm selling :D

Damn I saw that 4K sale too, unreal...I bet 60% of that sale had to do with the LP and 40% due to the '97 factor.

I guess I made the right choice holding onto my LP, might as well pop it into my silver flake FU4

I recently sold a Q4 on evil bay for my buddy (originally bought it from Hidesert here, then traded it to my friend for another bass and then he wanted me to sell if for him), it did 2,550--- I agree that pretruss rods Modulus are risky for the money

He replies slowly by email, but Jerry at Graphite Guitar Systems is your BEST bet. He was the one that made Mod's necks, and still does for his own company, and I thiiiiink G. Gould. He also does work for Mike Lull and other notable guys.

He gave me a quote, and I was floored that it was so affordable...FLOORED. He doesn't advertise, so that could be why.

I don't know his # off-hand, but just look up Graphite Guitar Systems. His email is [email protected].

I was watching that....knew I should have bought it when it was on TB.

3 days I have been going round and round with Guitar Center to buy a Mod!!! G's M***F***Hell... They keep telling me my CC address for shipping is wrong. Today I was on a three was call with my CC and GC. I am so frustrated with GC!! My CC company verified my address with them and verified there was all ready 2 approvals for the same bass waiting to go through. GC now is trying to find out why their system is blocking my CC... What a mess
