question to all the moduli owners who have a gloss finish on the back of their necks.

has anyone here tried knocking down the finish to make it more satin-y and quicker?

Heard a few passes with 800 grit sandpaper does wonders.

Just curious...

I haven't tried this, but I am intrigued now... not that the gloss finish is as bad as others

I tried it with 800 grit and the surface is not as forgiving as wood with regards to aesthetics. Unless you are a robot and can keep a perfectly straight line up and down the neck, it's not going to look good IMO. I also tried going up to 1000 and 1200 to see if I could smooth out the lines left by the 800 grit - just got finer lines on top of the 800 lines. The scratched edges of the poly catch the light and are very apparent on top of the dark background - not very pleasing to the eye so I ended up carefully buffing them out with polishing compound.

But if you don't care about aesthetics, then yes you can technically. I, myself, could not abide with how it looked...

In the end I had Pat Wilkins refinish the neck in satin for me and it's glorious :)

I have a curious issue with my rig/bass.. I am playing my Modulus Quantum 5 through an SVT 7pro. I had the volume up on my bass playing and I noticed the peak light on my amp flashing on and off. So, I muted my Parametric and it still was peaking. I turned the volume on the amp off and it still peaked and I turned the master gain off on the amp and the bass still was making my amp peak light flash?? I want to say Chicken or Egg here for a joke, but is this bass?? Is this amp? If amp, I will continue this over in the amp section, but I think it is the bass? Could a weak battery cause this? What else could make the amp clip even when the amp volume's are off??

-15 is padded. Battery will be changed tonight before I plug in again (which is why I thought it was the battery), EQ on the bass is boosted. but did not make any difference to peaking the amp. Thanks, I will read the manual again to see if I missed something. I blew up my SWR and have not gotten it back from repair. I have it a place I trust, but this guy works alone in a very small garage and does things on his own time, so I wait
