OK. I FINALLY got in touch with Anderson.
My Early 1980's Bassstar does not exist. The Bassstar only came in a 4 string and no Quantum headstocks.
So, as near as we can figure out this was a custom out of the shop bass. A Quantum 5 string with the bassstar logo and name. I am sending it back to Modulus to be looked at and repaired. I will be posting some pictures shortly.

To my knowledge, there is no such animal. It would have to be a post-production mod.

I can see a Genesis or VJ with Nords or DiMarzios having a nice vibe, but for the most part, active is the nature of the beast for Modulus.

For the Q basses, Bartolini and Modulus are mostly married at the hip. I wouldn't have one without the other.

I don't care at all for the black pearl PG and the burst. Both are fine, but together -- nasty, IMO. Needs a plain black PG or maybe tort. Although, that said, likely a sweet bass with the Nords.

Fairly new here, and the proud owner for approx 13 years of a Q5,..emg's with the BQC preamp,...she has one of the greatest slap tones I've ever heard,...kills in studio and onstage! Will dig up some pics and post, gorgeous green quilt. Will give props to Modulus for standing behind thier warranty, the neck bowed on her back in '02, gave them a call, shipped her back to the factory and they replaced the neck at no charge,...gotta admire a company that actually stands by thier word!

So, I spoke with Gary at Graphite Guitar Systems. I liked the guy.
The thing with my Bassstar is that for all purposes, it does not exist. It is a neck through 5 string bassstar with a Q5 head. Bassstars were not 5 strings (in general), they were not neck through (in general) and they did not have the Quantum headstock.
So, I think I am going to send the bass over the Guitar Systems. I am going to post some pic's in a little bit.
