Modulus Mob

When I spoke to Anderson at Modulus, Modulus did not use serial numbers until about 1988/89.. Before then most had 4 digit production codes for factory use. Mine has neither. There are no serial numbers of any kind. The only number on mine is the patent number on the headstock. From what Gary told me, that would mean it was a custom order 1 off from very late 70's or early 80's.
When the company was sold in the late 80's, most of the records of production (According to Anderson) were not forwarded on and subsequently lost. There is no real record of what was made and how many

I wonder if Geoff/Anderson/Rich could help fill in the "Modulus Timeline" from inception to present, along with models produced, etc.. It's very strange to me that a company of that size doesn't have something like that, or it's just a lot of speculation with 'facts' thrown in for good measure. :)

When did Geoff actually leave/stop overseeing the production of basses coming from their shop?

I was told somewhere in the 1988/89 era. It makes me really wonder though. Why would they not have any of that information?? It is not like Modulus is like Tiesco :smug:

That's what I mean. They're probably larger than most of the semi-boutique makers out there, yet so much of the history is just hearsay and "I talked to so and so back in 19xx", etc..
Very odd.
I only ask b/c I've come across an early 90's one that have the 'Modulus Graphite Systems' on the neck, as opposed to 'Modulus Guitars', so it just makes me wonder as they're both from the same year (allegedly, both being 91's), as they're both supposed to be 91's.?

Hey guys, just thought id point out a TBX is for sale on bass central, i know some of you were lookin... i was also wondering if any of you quantum owners live in southern california???

Yeah that's been there a good long while, if it still IS even there... They're not awesome about keeping their online inventory current. But they do tons of biz, so I can understand why. :) No biggie. I got my MTD from them. Awesome cats!

Perhaps they had some leftover necks from earlier periods lying around?

Here is my Q-5
I now use this for every gig I play.

I've seen very very few, especially in such a striking pattern as that one!
Where along the coast are you located? My gf lives in Corpus.

Yes, When I saw it I knew it was pretty special! The guy I got it from also had a Q6 that was pretty close to the same pattern. But buying one Modulus was about all the piggy bank cound stand.
Now I wish I had gotten it too.
Thanks for your comments!
