egads... 'giggity' indeed. and throw in a couple george takei's 'oh my!' and a matthew mcconaughey 'allrightallrightallright!'
only if this was a fiver... but i can't handle the top string on a sixer. anybody have any 'mindtricks' or tips to be able to play the upper 'b' or 'c' string without thinking it's the 'g' string?
maybe just convert it to a 10-string?
don't need one but would just sit around the house and play cheap trick's 'mandocello' full blast!

if i could find a luthier that works in metal and can fashion small saddles next to the regular saddles currently on the bridge, a 10-string (octaves) is feasible. just have to figure out how to re-work the peghead to accommodate the tuner configuration.
oh, and also have to figure out HOW TO PAY FOR IT!!!

looks like someone got her on evilbay. not many 25 year old basses i've seen looked as clean and as nice as that one.

What about it is making you want to sell? Just not as good as the quantums?
Not at all like the Quantums, but I had figured it would be different. I just cannot get used to the thin neck with a bit wider spacing. I think that it is an amazing bass, but not for me. I would bet 98 of 100 would love it. I just happen to be one of the 2..
I also prefer some heft to a neck. Since I have big hands, I need some chunkiness there for hand support. Quantum 4s are practically perfect. The only neck that's better than my quantum is my Carl Thompson, but that's a given.
I also LOVE the neck on my RW precision bass. Equally comfortable as the Quantums, just not as fast feeling. But I use the precision for a different kind of playing.
The narrowness of the VJ neck makes me work a little too hard sometimes. Fender jazz necks are slightly more comfortable imo. But that's just because they are a little thicker front to back, at the nut.

That was one of the main differences I could tell right away between my newly acquired Q5 and the Warwick Streamer $$ I have played for the last 8 years. The thinness of the neck was something to get used to, but I liked it a lot.....even with my larger-than-average sized hands. I find that my left hand is faster on the thinner neck, though I did have to get used to the finish on the back side of the necks.
I'd love that thinner neck Gould bass and have been very close to buying one from Geoff, but having 3 Modulus, I must resist. I don't like a "chunky" neck and that is why my 2nd Quantum, the 25th Anniversary bass is one of my favorites. Neck looks identical to my 2004 Q5 Sienna but the 25th Anniversary Q5 has a thinner neck profile and is easier to play to me and my baby hands. It is more "Precious" if you will, for lack of a better adjective, but I gig out with it a lot. My Sienna Q5 is part of my family (*played her on the couch in the 2004 Red Sox comeback vs. the Yankees / win over St. Louis in the World Series and 2011 Bruins Stanley Cup Game 7) so that holds a special spot in my heart- fatter neck and all, but the Q5 25th is easier to fret; plus it has the Bart soaps with the Aggie 3 band pre (Q5 Sienna has the standard Bart / Bart config). To each his own I say and it is really what makes the world go round....variety that is.
I'm already jonsing for another Moddy but a look at the conversion rates and my GAS for a Status is really messing with me... like beyond the usual. I don't know what to do.

There was a sweet Q6 in the classifeds that I was tempted by, but I JUST used my tax return to pay bills and be a responsible adult. Could've swung it, but would've been tough. Fortunately someone bought it and saved me the trouble.
Can anyone tell the size of Modulus funk/flea volume pot (ohms I mean).
