I think that was a custom option:roflmao::roflmao:

"Yeah Geoff, I want the bridge lowered." ... "What's that? No, not the saddles - the bridge itself, towards the ground when I hold it parallel to the ground." ... "Yes, that's what I want! If the G pinches off the neck every time I try to fret a note, you know you've succeeded wildly."

Thanks for your reply about the pickup and preamp. I went ahead and put in a three band bart with a pull mid switch and active passive switch and a Delano HC that I wired to a three way switch for parallel, series, and single coil. Lots of tones in there. Gigged it tonight mainly in parallel with some small eq tweaks depending on the song. Very nice, clear, fulll, and even some growl in it.

Alembic Series Graphite John Mcvie actual bass from The Chain | eBay

nice piece of history here. maybe @GeoffGould can chime in on the history of this bass since this is one of the early pieces available using a graphite/Modulus neck.

Sorry, but that ain't the bass used on the Chain. The Alembic used on "The Chain" was the "Invalid Link Removed"

Edit: So apparently there is some ambiguity: The Graphite-necked one was photographed for the cover of the Album "The Chain"

But what we hear on that signature bassline of the song is definitely the "continuously fretted" Series I

I had a FB with a Duncan pickup that was factory. However, it did not have the logo on it. Never seen one with the logo. But Duncan was a very common pickup in the original Flea's.
If I am right, lane poor came out of business in 2001, so Modulus had to order from SD a custom LP clone with some changes.
I've contacted SD but they told me they never made any serial production closed MM pickups.
I guess this is the early custom ordered Modulus version from 2001. BTW it only has 2 wires.
Hope someone can confirm this.
