Modulus Mob

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

don't think i've ever seen a modulus with the simms setup. very nice. some of the things the seller posted has me scratching my head a bit (new york city? :banghead: the body looks to be standard alder and what's with the receipt?). if anyone's in la la land, feel free to offer up any info! :)

That bass has been on Ebay a few days now. Looks like a cool bass, but definitely some odd wording in there. Also, odd that the seller has two listings for the same bass.

at quick glance, it looks like one listing is for buyers from outside the area (price is firm) but they're offering a 'best offer' quote to locals on the second listing. guess they're passing along the 'savings' for a local sale (no ship).

on a whim, i offered up a few questions to the seller via email (standard boilerplate / neck condition / electronics / etc.). they wouldn't answer any inquiries (i asked too many questions apparently) and said just to try the bass out.

so, there's that...

There are several nice Moduli on the GC used site (including a lefty Q5 which you don't see very often). Also, the TBX6 on Reverb is down to $4200...
I used to own that TBX 6, traded it to another TBer. He said he had some work done on it by Joe Perriman, but that’s still quite a but more than I paid when I got it (and more than I got when I traded it).

It was a nice bass though- neck was really easy to play for a 6er, and the notes just jumped off that bass... maybe one day, I’ll have another...

Hi everyone,
I have a 96 Quantum 5 with a 2tek and 18v EMGs. I play through a gk mb500 and I am trying to get a warmer sound. Not sure if I should switch to Barts or maybe switch to a warmer amp. Any suggestions? Also open to preamp and other suggestions. I'd rather leave the bass stock if possible

Hey micgtr71. I have two sweetspots and changed the pickups from EMG in both. In the fretless I put an old bart deep tone humbucker and an bart 2 band with A/P on the volume knob. Very different than before and maybe could use a little more midrange but still pretty clear, girthy and deep, and much better. In the other I put a Delano humbucker is parallel with a Bart 3 band EQ, it reminds me of a cross between EMG and Barts, not a vintage sound but very clear but not biting treble. Its my main bass, except when I pull out a P bass with TI's for kicks. The band prefers the Modi.

With the EMG's in, I used a Genz Streamliner which seemed to warm up the tone of the EMG's and sometimes a Tech 21 VT with the treble pulled down.
Overall I like a more vintage type of R&B sound and a Modulus may never sound like a P bass, but with these changes I feel like I put a little bit of vintage in the modern sound which works well in a wide variety of settings. Good Luck and let us know what you do.
