A tinted neck 6er on the ‘bay... not mine
if I could see the back I could confirm whether or not it's a Quantum 5SP or SPX. It doesn't look like an SPi
I'd call it a Quantum 5SP. It's the predecessor of the SPX, and the SPi, which endures to this day. It looks like 2.5" wide at 24th fret. It comes out of the standard BASSSTAR mold. No peghead angle.
I have no idea what the 'new' Modulus does as far as repairs, but it doesn't need anything magical, just a luthier who knows what they're doing. I can recommend some people here and there. What area do you live in?
Sound sample of the 1992 Modulus Q5 frankinbass...
Here's my recently acquired 1996 Sweet Spot Turbo 6 in Crush Orange!
Holy crap there is so much about that bass that I love!!!
-- six-string
-- Sweet Spot Turbo pickup config
-- orange
-- 2-Tek bridge (!!!!)
-- perhaps most importantly, the Modulus logo at the base of the neck appears somewhat stealthed out. Sotto Voce. Fabulous.
Seriously, if you ever decide to part with it, PM me. That is gorgeous.

Heck, I'll take a number too!
Tell me about the 2 Tek bridge, my 87 Q5 has an aftermarket EMG bridge that's a bit too high to get proper action without filing the saddles down.
Thanks for the heads up! I think I'm going to have to try one of those bridges, considering Moduli already are known for sustain, I can only imagine what swapping for a 2 Tek will do.The 2-Tek bridge is definitely high quality stuff. The sustain from this bridge is phenomenal! There are however two drawbacks: 1) you will not be able to set a perfect intonation as the entire bridge is one piece and the saddles can only be adjusted back some; 2) restringing takes a bit of patience as it is a bit tricky to feed the strings through. However, remarkably, the intonation sounds good when playing on the higher registers and you can't tell that the intonation is not spot-on. Overall, I think it's a damn good bridge!
