And how are they working for you? Can you feel them at all on that edge? Any issues changing batteries? Any issue with where the battery box sits?Someone asked about Fretfx on a ModulusView attachment 2871560 View attachment 2871560

Great , can’t really feel the strip on the top , battery is easy to change ( about the size of a quarter) and not too inexpensive .And how are they working for you? Can you feel them at all on that edge? Any issues changing batteries? Any issue with where the battery box sits?

Looked at these and Luminlays for the Q5 and still on the fence.
After getting a quote from Simms UK almost fell off the fence...
Close to the resale value of the bass.
These may be a good alternative till I find a TBX with real LEDs. Tks.
I have Luminlay in one of my basses and works good, but I still on the fence on how to install them the Q5, not sure how safe is to drill the phenolic board. On wood is a pretty simple process.
You are correct, the only pro luthier thYou're kinda in the same boat as me in Houston.
Closest guy/ professional co. that regularly does LED's- let alone in a CG neck
is in CA.- a Mayones dealer.
Thanks and yes, Luminlays, not installing LEDs. No problem drilling phenolic or graphite I guess? If you're just talking about putting the bigger lumilays in, no big deal. Maybe just use a sharper bit. The phenolic is not electrically conductive like the graphite is, if you're talking about LED's

If the (polyester) finish not only surrounds but covers the existing
markers, seems a drill would cause cracks in that surrounding finish,
as well as removing it from over the marker allowing skin oils and
moisture in finger on chin.
Nobody's saying it's a no-brainer, especially for people that have no experience. I'm just trying to demystify it. The dots are rarely touching graphite. I guess you should make sure in your specific case, that a 3mm dot has room on the side of the neck. I do know of some fingerboards that aren't a very flat radius, that prohibit Lumilays.
FretFx is adhesive. Luminlay are invasiveSo these are different than the FretFX?
I understand your mind set. One thing I've learned when considering pickup mods were to first try a different type (brand) of strings prior to operating on your bass. For example, if you usually use DR HI Beams try something radically different like La Bella nickels or DR Sun Beams. It's a lot cheaper alternative and you may change your mindset or pre set ideas about a certain string type or brand while doing this. At worst your out 30 bills and you learned something while doing it.I really want my Q4 to be my go-to bass, everything is right about it except I find the EMG's to be too bright, and not as warm as my basses with Barts.
Here's the question tho- I can EQ it they way I like, but something in the back of my mind says that's too much EQ, I usually only use EQ to fix room/stage problems.
Why won't my own experience/prejudices just let me turn the bass up almost full, and back off some mid hi's?
The consumer in me says replacing the p/u's and the pre ($600) is better than turning some knobs (FREE!)
Missing my 1992 Q5, but i got the family out
2010 VertexAwesome collection! What's that red 4-string?
