She arrived safely! Didn't know how much I missed these until I got another one.

I am rejoining the modulus mob after several years away from music in general. I was shocked to see the prices of the flea basses and assumed I would never own another one. I got a pretty great deal on reverb on this one shortly after it was posted.....I just happened to do a search, saw it and figured why not. 1997, said to be all original....though I see a stack pot which I am not sure if it could be OE. Also has a badass 2 and the original modulus logoed lane poor pickup. Unfortunately it was sent out late.....and is now sitting in a frozen UPS trailer for the third day straight due to it being shipped out late and the Christmas holidays. I made several trips to a couple different UPS hubs to try to rescue it from that torture to no avail. I am a bit nervous about this one being in temperatures as low as 10 degrees by the time the trailer gets unloaded. Wish me luck.

Congrats! Hey, if any bass could survive those temps, it's a Modulus!

I have a brand new set of fretfx's but i never installed them
Still haven't tried em? I'm curious as to how good they look. Install them and let us know!

I think the CITES thing will eventually work out, but right now there's a lot of confusion. When we first started using cocabola at Modulus, the source of the wood was actually recommended by the Rainforest Action Network at the time. The idea was this small firm paid locals to bring out individual logs of cocabola, without burning down the forest to make grazing land for cattle. Eventually the business of eco certifications got kind of tangled, and that was no longer RAN-approved. Also, new species got added to CITES that used to be OK, like bubinga, and all rosewood, even rosewood that's sustainably farmed. I think the main deal is to be aware of when you cross borders. Nobody's going to confiscate your bass at the local bar. I'm trying to create a "Grand Tour" designation in my own line with phenolic fingerboards, plastic position markers, and obviously sustainable body woods (maple, ash, alder, etc.) We will still make cocabola-topped basses, but players will need to be aware of the traveling risks. Players from other countries can still get exotic wood basses, but there's a lot of paperwork and border delays involved.
Wow, Geoff! I didn't think many companies were using cocobola anymore, due to it being endangered (I think?) and due to the toxicity of working with the wood. Have I been mislead? Or is this true about cocobola?

I really want my Q4 to be my go-to bass, everything is right about it except I find the EMG's to be too bright, and not as warm as my basses with Barts.
Here's the question tho- I can EQ it they way I like, but something in the back of my mind says that's too much EQ, I usually only use EQ to fix room/stage problems.
Why won't my own experience/prejudices just let me turn the bass up almost full, and back off some mid hi's?
The consumer in me says replacing the p/u's and the pre ($600) is better than turning some knobs (FREE!)

I have not had the time to record something with the Nordstrand BigRigs, but the work is complete, I replaced the EMG pickups and preamp with Nordstrand 3B preamp and Nordstrand BigRigs. Love the sound and how versatile it has become. I need to take the time to record and point out the differences (I did record the EMGs before the change). Of course I do understand some people like EMGs (DCs or CS), I like the EMG-X better than the CS I had but still like more the sound that Nordstrand provides me.
I will update once I record something but is a change I will recommend if you are looking to replace pickups @Paulabass
