1996 Quantum-6 TBX. Just had time to verify that it arrived in one piece & snap this pic, then I had to run out. I'll give it a good going-over tomorrow before (and hopefully during) rehearsal.

Congrats! I put that one in my cart a few times! haha Nice score.

So it's a pretty badass bass. Desperately needs a new set of strings and a very thorough cleaning. Probably needs a tweak of the action, as I clearly tend to dig in a bit harder than the previous owner; hopefully that can be accomplished with saddle height, as this is a pre-relief rod instrument. Electronics - EMG soapbars and an EMG BTS preamp/EQ -- work, although the pots all feel like someone blew snot rockets into their shafts. The tone, even with ultra-dead strings, is massive, full, and dense, with a healthy dose of the characteristic Modulus "honk" so, especially if those pots don't respond to a thorough soaking in DeOxit, I may look into replacing the BTS with one of the Mike Pope preamps that has dual midrange bands just so I can dial in some strategic notches. (My other Modulus has an ACG/East filter-based preamp, but I think I'll want to stick with something a bit more conventional on this one.)

Did I mention it's badass? My drummer was swooning tonight. :)

As the owner before the guy you got it from, I’m curious if the electronics are still the same as when I had it. Had the older EMG bts circuit with 2 9v batteries floating around in the cavity wrapped in foam.

It was a good sounding bass- i remember when I put on new strings the first time... there’s DEFINITELY a difference between the bolt ons and the tbx’s...

Yep, still the same.

Dare I ask why you parted with it?
Because I’m a fool.

At the time, I was transitioning from 4 strings to 5+ and I was more comfortable on 5’s with my right hand (lots of sympathetic ringing on the 6), and the buyer (your seller) was very motivated, so I got my Lakland 55-94 out of it (which is a bass I use a lot).

That being said, I had to adjust my right hand technique for 5ers as well, and now I am hankering for a 6 again, so overall, maybe a draw for me.

Glad to see it’s getting used and enjoyed though. It really is a special instrument.
