I just r
I just received a Modulus VJ bass today (I mail ordered one from out of state). The guy on the phone told me that it currently has flats on it. So I've tooled around on the bass today unplugged (I don't have an amp yet). I've got some EB Cobalts on the way to me that I'll install. My bass also has the Chechen fingerboard option on it along w EMG's. I can't wait to hear wait it sounds like plugged in
EDIT: This was a used bass that I bought from GC - however, except for a little nick on the edge of the body - this thing looks pristine to me.
Interesting. When I received my Quantum 4 it had some kind of flats on it. I thought to myself "what on earth was this person thinking?" because I tried playing them and did NOT like the sound or response I was getting. But I was also looking for the trademark 'zing' that graphite gives you with rounds, so maybe if I was actually looking for a flats sound, it might be nice on a moddy. I just personally agree that's not what moddys are best for, graphite is meant for snappy attack and bright tone, whereas flats are practically the antithesis of that sound. I could see how a combination of the two could give you an interesting flavor.
But to each their own. Glad you enjoy the chromes. Cheers.
