That’s the SPX, which is different from the SPi, which is the the kind of neck joint still used.Is it me or does the back of the neck on that bass look flat around 2.5 inches too soon.
Has anyone here ever done a flush-mount (i.e., counter-sunk) Dunlop Strap-Lock on a Modulus TBX neck-thru instrument? I'm curious whether the carbon fiber centerpiece is solid enough at the tail end to allow for such an installation. (@GeoffGould do you recall how much material is there, and whether it could accommodate this sort of modification?)
Thanks,

Thanks,
It’s possible there’s enough material there. Perhaps when you remove the bridge pick up you could go spelunking down there?
Pictures or....What about putting it above the carbon fiber center section? I just received a 1993 TBX that has the strap button up there.

Take it on an airplane as carry onWhere's that guy with the x-ray machine when you need him?![]()
Don't know why I'm always coming off as "that guy", but I can't help but think there's probably a good reason why that strap button is located where it is; as it doesn't appear to have been originally located below the bridge. Proceed with caution.

Can always be a factor with neck thru's. Many here I'm sure can chime in on a heavier yet flexible DHS or whatever brand. I use Dean Markley Blue Steel on my bolted Q5 raise the action a tad and dig in. They take punishment well and last forever with good toneDon't apologize. I thought it odd, as well. It does look like the graphite is untouched.
I've been struggling with TBX basses with bowed necks. This one has a slight back bow (convex). Maybe I'll try a slightly heavier gauge string.
Closeup picture of bridge area?
Don't have any real closeups, and the bass is currently 2,500 miles away from where I am, so this is the
It's a 1996, in case that helps.

You’re still talking about the blue one? Years ago it was said I think it was Jerry who could plane down the neck and refret for a very reasonable price. I think the only way to fix. But yes, a truss would be nice even though thicker neck profile I’ll assume. I never had any of my newer Q6’s at the same time I had that black 1996 TBX to compare how big a difference. I’m thinking of starting a new black TBX build as Bob seems to have a death grip on my old one. That black one has a slight forward bow. It had a piece of wood under the bridge that was common on these. I had the piece taken out seemed to make it a little better then again I set my action very low as I play extreme music. I haven’t experimented with heavier gauge strings though.
