Still nobody has a Vertex 4? I recently discovered that model and I'm quite intrigued . . . I thought sure I'd be able to find out more about it here, but in all of TB-land there are only a small handful of "Anybody have one of these?" queries.

Hey JerryD,

I only sold it because I was wanting wider string spacing so it would be a bit more comfortable on my right hand. I LOVED that Q6 and played a TON on it. It's surprising because it looked damn near brand new and it was ten years old!

I take care of my gear, but I don't hold back when I play... Those are built like tanks! Congrats on the purchase. It has tons of mojo. If it was 18 or 19mm spacing I would have kept it forever!

I'd like to hear what you think of it.
All the best,
Derrick

:scowl::scowl::scowl::scowl: 4 days I have been trying to get in touch with Modulus and nobody answers the phone. Left a message for Anderson and it has not been returned. E-mailed with no response!! Damn it I am getting really frustrated!! Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to make a pest of myself, but I have some questions and need some answers from Modulus.

Anyone know how to figure out Modulus Serial numbers? I realize the first 2, but is there any coding for the other numbers? I have called Modulus and e-mailed them, but as usual Anderson has not gotten back to me.

I always figured the last four digits were batch numbers but I just looked at my serial numbers and I have one that's XX1133.

Was Modulus cranking out 100 instruments per month in the early 90s?

First two digits aren't always accurate for dating the instrument. I have an FU4 that was assembled in 2010, but has an 09xxxx serial as the neck was fabricated at the tail end of 2009 but the entire bass wasn't finished until Dec. 2010. It's more of a ballpark.

I've said it in the past, Modulus customer service is awful. If I ran my business like they do I would have no customers. Trust me, they are not that busy that busy they can't return calls and emails. Don't care how small they are and how much volume of work they have; you ignore your customers and someday soon you won't have them to worry about.

I'll take a number for my fretted 1993 Quantum 6 SPi Custom. I'm the original owner. It's got a quilt maple top in Black Cherry Velvet with a matching tinted neck, Bartolini soapbars, and a 3-band NTMB preamp with two coil-splitter switches.

Welcome to the Modulus Mob, our newest member number 82: :bassist: Striver :bassist:

That bass is superb! I absolutely flip for those tinted neck. Looks like a match with my old Sweet Spot 6 Turbo which was........

My only experience with Modulus customer service was not great, but not terrible either. I forget the name of the person I contacted, but I was interested in buying a set of Q5 Barts/OBP-3 setup. It took days in between emails, but I finally got a price with or without installation and also a quote for a new bridge. I never got payment info or any follow-ups to finalize the transaction although I inquired further. :hmm:

Imma just set these here, mmmkay?
