Modulus Mob

I've said it in the past, Modulus customer service is awful. If I ran my business like they do I would have no customers. Trust me, they are not that busy that busy they can't return calls and emails. Don't care how small they are and how much volume of work they have; you ignore your customers and someday soon you won't have them to worry about.

I agree...and I gave Modulus the benefit of the doubt on several occasions. They helped me out on some hardware...sent me the wrong stuff and I couldn't them to reply.

Granted, they are a small outfit...but I have personally spoken to the guys there...some have been there since the 80s! They told me that whenever they see a number calling with a "205" area code they know it was either me or Oteil Burbridge...haha.

But yeah, they need to be a little better at getting back with people. Hell, even if they took 20 minutes a day responding to emails and calls it would be to their benefit.

Their online store hasn't worked in over 2 years.

You would think, even how small of a company they are, they would have someone to contact customers. Some sort of customer service and it seems it has godden worse over the years! Let's face it, I own 5 Modulus' now and when I need some help with one, I would like to get in touch with someone at some point!

Anyone have any experience with any of the Modulus fretless basses? Picking one up on Sunday...never played a fretless, but I figured it would at least 'look' good next to my Q5. :D

I am trading another bass for it. It looks great.

I am really interested in learning to play on a fretless.

I have always like the sound of graphite neck basses(with synthetic fingerboards). I played a fretless Steinberger for years. I played a few fretless Modulues here and there. And I have a fretless 6 string Quantum on order.

I haven't tried Modulus, but I played a Zon Sonus fretless and fell in love with it, amazing sound!!!

This is a long shot but I figured I would try. Anyone here from the Mod. mob looking to sell a Q6?
I had one way back in 96 and still compare everything to it.My email is [email protected]

Thanks, Patrick

There are a couple on E-bay and I have seen them on the board over in the For Sale area.. Check there. The Sweet Spot on E-bay is way to pricey IMHO..

That is one of the nicest Q5's I've ever seen! I would imagine that the phenolic fingerboard makes a fretless Modulus sing. Although I am a 35" devotee, I can appreciate the uniqueness of that build, congrats!

This bass, for me, ends the scale length debate. Rigidity of neck build is where it's at and this B string is JUST as massive and clear as the other 4 Moduli i've owned. And man, the growl of graphite in a fretless............:hyper:

As it happens, I've been thinking of selling mine. I posted mine just a few posts back. It's the Black Cherry Velvet Q6 with matching tinted neck. Shoot me a message if it looks like something in which you'd be interested.

All I have to say is that I picked up the fretless today and am blown away. I have never played a fretless before, let alone an unlined fretless. It sounds great, looks fantastic, and actually easy to play. I read a lot of stuff on playing fretless last week so I was kind of prepared. Feels like 2nd nature to me. I will try to get some pics up soon.

I guess I've just had bad experiences with 34" fivers, and I was probably much less knowledgeable then, so the may have been other issues (poor setup, etc.). I was not happy with the Fender USA J5 I had or the MIJ Ibanez SR1206. I will have to give the 34 another shot! I can imagine that fretboard is like having an epoxy coating built in.

I can definitely appreciate the skill it takes to play a fretless, lined or unlined. I am one of those "if I'm not giggin' it, its not staying" guys, so I've just never had a reason to own one. Glad you are enjoying it! Looking forward to seeing it!

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask this question or not, but I think you guys would be the most knowledgeable crowd on the subject.

I have a 2001 Genesis 5 (J-J) and was wondering if it would have the Bart or the Aguilar preamp in it. I know they introduced the Aguilar preamps in 2000, but I didn't know if it went in all Genesis basses after that or only some of them.

Any info would be awesome.

Thanks. :bassist:
