Thanks to nervous and his research on tuners, upgraded the GB7's I had on my FU4 to the Resolite 350's and they do make a difference. Weight is now down to 8.6 Lbs. Thanks!

Modulus Mob

Hey guys, I think my Q5 may be in need of a fretjob (maybe even a re fret) it is 15 years old though. Thing is, I'm not the original owner, so no warranty. Anyone no where I could send her to have this done? Any clue on the cost?

I am skeptical that you will reach a human if you call or email Modulus, I never have. PM me if you want as I met a guy who worked there and is still in the luthier business. Where are you located ?
I did a search but did not find what I am looking for. I am debating buying a Quantum 5 from MF, but it has a gloss finish neck. Is the satin neck that different/better? Right now I've got a StingRay and I love the finish on its neck. I realize this is subjective, but still... Thanks in advance 
I have owned both finishes and IMHO I found no noticable difference in feel. My current Q5 has the gloss neck and it's a fast as any I have ever played with absolutely no stickiness present.I did a search but did not find what I am looking for. Good question: one reason I chose Modulus over Zon in 2004. I too have Musicman satin finish and a gloss Q5- not a significant difference in feel. Only "weird" thing is the Modulus gloss neck is cold to touch compared to my other basses.

This bass was given to me a few years ago and I am wondering if you know exactly when it was built/played. Phil told me it was somewhere around 82-86 but wasn't positive, as he did not play this very long because it is very neck-heavy and poorly balanced.

I've never seen a Mod like that but the horns sort of remind of Doug Irwin's designs (dude who made a bunch of Garcia's guitars)

And yes, the design was based off of his Irwin bass. This is one of his first Modulus basses. Believed to be used around '85. I am super interested in the original poster's response of what year this was made/if he knew wether it was the first PL Mod or whatever other info.
