Thanks to nervous and his research on tuners, upgraded the GB7's I had on my FU4 to the Resolite 350's and they do make a difference. Weight is now down to 8.6 Lbs. Thanks!

Hey all! Been hanging around for a while but have never posted before. These are my two main basses - 1994 Q6 and a 2000 GVJ4 Fretless.
I am the third owner of the Quantum and bought it from a friend about 8 years ago. It's the only one I've ever seen with a 5 piece body. I understand that was a pretty expensive upgrade that they tried for a few years and stopped in the mid 90's. I'd be curious if any of you have more information about that.
The fretless was an ebay purchase in 2007. It's an ash body with maple/carbon/granadillo neck. I should really play it more than I do.

Hey guys, I think my Q5 may be in need of a fretjob (maybe even a re fret) it is 15 years old though. Thing is, I'm not the original owner, so no warranty. Anyone no where I could send her to have this done? Any clue on the cost?
Thanks in advance

I have owned both finishes and IMHO I found no noticable difference in feel. My current Q5 has the gloss neck and it's a fast as any I have ever played with absolutely no stickiness present.I did a search but did not find what I am looking for. I am debating buying a Quantum 5 from MF, but it has a gloss finish neck. Is the satin neck that different/better? Right now I've got a StingRay and I love the finish on its neck. I realize this is subjective, but still... Thanks in advance![]()

Hey guys, I thought this might be of interest here. I have some old pictures from when I worked at Modulus in the 80's of Phil Lesh's all graphite bass during construction. I got to prep it and spray the finish. Anyway I scanned the pics to post here.

This bass was given to me a few years ago and I am wondering if you know exactly when it was built/played. Phil told me it was somewhere around 82-86 but wasn't positive, as he did not play this very long because it is very neck-heavy and poorly balanced.
Any info would be great. Thanks!

Phil LESH gave you that bass?
I've never seen a Mod like that but the horns sort of remind of Doug Irwin's designs (dude who made a bunch of Garcia's guitars)
