My Q5 with an OBP-3 and Duncan NYC dual coils goes through my pedal board then into an LMII and a Dr. Bass 1260. When I play through my board I almost always use just a little compression (BBE Optostomp) and will occasionally use my VTBass for a touch of grind (which is especially nice with the front pick up favored - the new Duncans really woof). Any other effects are incidental to the song.

Ok Modulus Brethren....what are you running your MODS through? Gear-wise...just curious as to what everyone else is using.

Right now I am using
Ampeg SVP-CL>Ampeg SVT-410HLF I am hoping to sell the SVP-CL and get a Demeter VSTB-201s this week....so I was thinking of changing my cabinet too while I am at it.

I love the tone I get through the preamp and cab right now, but just curious what else is out there.

I have a question - When I take my neck through out of the case, it will be in perfect tune. After it hangs on the strap for a while, it changed slightly and I have to retune. If I take my bass out and hang it from my stand, then play it, this does not happen. Anyone else have a similar situation? No big deal, just something with my bass. Mine does not have a truss rod. btw...As near as I can describe it is it is similar to an old tube amp, sounds great right when you turn it on, but sounds incredible after it gets running for a while...

I am doubtful this is it but have you checked/snugged your neck attachment bolts? No side-to-side play? (unless of course I missed the part about it being a neck through, in which case I'll move on...)

Also check the tightness of all the screws associated with the tuners (i.e the tuner button screws and especially the and small screw on the back that stops the whole assembly from rotating) Also the large tuner mounting nut on the face side. I have yet to receive a used bass that all of these were not loose, sometimes by a lot. They are not often considered and often overlooked. Any rotation at all of the tuner itself could cause tuning difficulties.

Mine is a neck through, so no bolts to loosen. Also, all the tuners are completely snug. I actually thought it was a combination of the bass sitting on the strap with the version of my bass and the no truss rod thing. I have an extremely early version of a Modulus. Somewhere in the 1978 range and there is very little in the way of pattern in the graphite.

It's hard to imagine that there could be enough neck 'sag' in the playing position to impact tuning but you never know I guess.

Hey guys. I've got a Modulus Flea 5. Nice bass, but was surprised that it does not have an active/passive switch. I have the Aguilar OB-3 (??) preamp and the Bartolini MM style pickup. I had a guy install a pull off/on active/passive switch. It seems to work just fine, but I'm having second thoughts and wondering if this might be harming my electronics. Any thoughts on that?

Also, how does someone join the mob???

So, it finally became possible to order my 'dream' Modulus. I LOVED my old Q5 tonally, but can NOT get used to a 35" scale or anything less than 19mm spacing. So........I'm about to place an order for the following:

Fretless Q5, unlined phenolic board
Semi-Hollow Body w/F hole.
Aguilar 3band EQ
34 INCH SCALE!!!!
19MM Spacing!!!!!

Apparently this will be THE FIRST 34" scale Modulus with 19mm spacing.

:hyper::hyper:

Now if I could just get warwick to build me a 19mm spacing Thumb 5 with Wenge in the neck....

nice...the 35" is a bit much for me as well.

I actually gravitated to the 35" scale. Since I am 6' tall and pretty long arms, the 35" scale just seems to fit well for me.

It's not the ergonomics for me as much as it is the slightly different tonality. It's hard to put into words really, and most likely due to me coming up playing Fender-style basses. Besides, I'm sure since it's MODULUS we're talking about, the B string will be thunderous!
