Modulus Mob

Here is my purple stone quantum 5 with Barts and 3 band eq, my favorite bass yet! Ive had it 2 weeks and I want to restring it anyone can recommend some long lasting growly strings to put on her. She came with old elixirs but I want something warmer in the low end and some snap in the high end.

I use D'Addario XL strings which is what Modulus uses when they ship the basses out.

Nice bass...mine is very similar in finish!
Yep, D'Addario XLs are nice.

(you can see the D'Addario's on my Q6):

Hey there, Mob! I've been reading your posts throughout the day and would like to join in on the fun. I got my first Modulus Q5 about 2 weeks ago and am in love. :D I had been struggling for a few years with a lower-end Ibanez 5-string and just couldn't get the sound that I wanted. After much research I took a chance and ordered this baby. What a difference! Finally a low B string that sings – and amazingly even sound throughout the range of the instrument.

that buckeye burl is gorgeous!

My wife said I could get a new Modulus TBX when we sell our other house. Might be a year or two....and I might have to hide the invoice.....BUT....

I can just see the unpacking now, "Hey, I forgot I had this, must have been hidden away in a closet somewhere."

Yeah, she'll believe that ;)

On another note, I have a Stealth Fretless VJ on the way, being put together now, just have to wait a little while longer.

I've been stalking this thread for a long time, so I've subbed now!
My very first bass that I learned on was a Flight 4 SP. It was tough going for an eleven year old to finger that first fret! I remember it being so tough! I learned on that bass for four solid years.
I've got GAS hard for a new Mod. I stopped in a Guitar Center in DC awhile back & caught a Q6 in there that blew my doors off! Fortunately, or unfortunately, I was with Anthony Wellington & Victor Wooten headed to lunch, so I only got to sit on it for a minute. What a trippy day. That bass made me remember all of the things I loved about my first bass. I'll be back in the mob soon!

Did any of you go from 19mm spacing to 17mm ha e issues with slapping? I love my Q5 but tonight during a gig I missed a few notes while slapping not anything to major and it's mostly on songs where I go from finger style to slap. Does one adjust over time? I sure hope so cause I love my modulus.

It's not that hard to slap without missing notes in a 17mm. It's just a matter of technique. I've seen players like Gerald Veasley who slaps on a six string bass with 14mm spacing.

BRIDGE???? QUANTUM 6
Any clues of what brand/model of bridge are on Quantum 6s...

I want to replace mine.

Tim
I suppose that it might depend on the year but on the Quantums I have had and what's been posted here in pics lately all show the Hipshot 'A' style bridge. Post a pic and that would be the best way for a positive ID if there are doubts. Just be sure of your string spacing when you order as they come in a wide variety.

Okay I have a question for you all. I think that I may have a problem with my new Quantum 5. I have the Bartolini NTMB setup and just noticed tonight that while a note is ringing if I turn the pickup blend pot to one extreme or the other I get a static sound. It is dead silent if there is no signal passing. All the other pots are completely silent with the exception of a little hiss when boosting the treble boost to the extreme. Has anyone else experienced this with the pickup blend? Thought I would check with the Mob before going back to my dealer or Modulus. Thoughts? I'm kind of bummed.
