Sounds like a bad pot to me. I had the same thing happen on an Elrick. Same pre as a matter of fact. I dont think its necessarily inherent to that pre, just a bad pot. Any repair guy can replace it for you.

Okay I have a question for you all. I think that I may have a problem with my new Quantum 5. I have the Bartolini NTMB setup and just noticed tonight that while a note is ringing if I turn the pickup blend pot to one extreme or the other I get a static sound. It is dead silent if there is no signal passing. All the other pots are completely silent with the exception of a little hiss when boosting the treble boost to the extreme. Has anyone else experienced this with the pickup blend? Thought I would check with the Mob before going back to my dealer or Modulus. Thoughts? I'm kind of bummed.

Well, I just opened it up to change the battery in case that was the unlikely issue. It turns out that I have the Aguilar OBP-3 electronics. That's a nice surprise, but changing the batteries didn't help the situation. In fact I now notice that I get the static/distortion while playing when the blend knob in one extreme position or the other not just while turning. I've got to get this repaired soon. I guess that I'll start by contacting Modulus but does anyone know a repair shop in the Minneapolis area that they would trust with this kind of repair?![]()

Opinion - if youre going to take it in- may be timely to consider a preamp swap - if you cant do this yourself--- pm me - have some good leads
Normally costs more to repair vs replace a preamp

rossiman said:Hey guys,
I dont know if anyone else has had a similar issue but the gloss finish on my Flea 4 neck appears to be bubbling/separating from the neck...every now and then ill notice a new part of the neck where it looks like a white spot or hairline and even one part (where my thumb passes over on the 12th fret) gradually wore off or "chipped" off. I dont know if I should fill it (or how to) and whether it would be worth it or covered in warranty to send to modulus..(its an 03)
would appreciate any help, thanks
She's fancy but not too proud to sleep on my couch tonight!

I'm still betting the pre is fine, it's just the pot that's crapping out.
