Modulus Mob

Go to a tool store and buy one for $1.

I have four sets and none of them have a 3/16 with a long enough bend. And the only flaw that keeps this Q5 from being flawless is thy the previous owner tried to use the wrong hex and left some marks in the entrance hole. Maybe someone here can give me the measurements of their modulus quantum hex so I can find one with the same dimensions online??? But I don't want to take a risk and damage this bass.

Bart pups and the OBP-3 are awesome, especially if you don't have a real "aggressive" wood combo. My latest bass, currently being made, is a Roscoe SKB 3005 Bubinga / Wenge 5 string: Bubinga top, Swamp Ash body, Maple neck with Wenge shim and Wenge finger board- YUM.
I considered going Bart/ Aggie but the woods will be perfect with the Bart/ Bart combo. Plus I can always swap out the Bart pre, just for fun!

I also like the Aguilar OBP-3. I had one in a previous Q5 with Barts and liked it a lot and have one in my Q6 which also has Barts. The odd thing is one of my current Q5's had a relatively weak output and I ended up swapping out the OBP-3 for a Bart 3 band. I've never had this problem with Aguilar preamps before and wonder if this one was simply defective. It wasn't dead - it just wasn't loud. And it wasn't the batteries.

I'm curious if anyone else has had this experience.

You don't find the EMG's a little "treble heavy"? Just curious, as my Q5 is Bart/Bart; I have heard others comment EMG pups can be a little too sterile and harsh. Just curious like I said.

I have definitely read that on the forums too, don't worry. To me the EMG clarity seals the deal or me. I actually love the tone of my Modulus. Anyone that thinks EMGs are trebley or sterile needs to stand in front of my rig. To me it is very warm and very clear which is the sound in bass that I dig.

I've heard this comment as well. They have a different sound, but I've never thought them to be sterile or harsh. They work extremely well with a Quantum IME, but everyone is different.

I think they have a bit more top end to them, so it might be easier to over EQ them if you aren't careful. Meaning an amp setting that gets you a lot of presence with Barts, might not work as well with EMGs, if that makes any sense.
