All 80's Albums: Musicman Stingray's (some with graphite necks), P'bass, Spector NS (for Mother's Milk)
BSSM: Wal, Some 5 string (for Funky Monks)
One Hot Minute: Alembic Epic, Stingray
Californication: Modulus Flea Bass
By The Way: Flea bass, Jazz Bass (I think)
Stadium Arcdium: Jazz Bass, Flea Bass (maybe)
Sorry I'm not 100% sure
I know one of the Modulus guys and while chatting he mentioned they were not happy with Flea's endorsement of the bass. This was right after that sig bass came out and the RHCP were on TV a bunch at the time and every time they were on TV, Flea was playing that vintage fender jazz.
Sure... it's all been documented from interviews, etc. It breaks down pretty much like this:
RHCP - Stingray
Freaky Styley / Uplift Mofo Party Plan / some of Mother's Milk - Spector
Rest of Mother's Milk - Stingray
BSSM - Wal (Stingray 5 also used on "If You Have To Ask" and "Funky Monks")
One Hot Minute - Alembic Epic (apart from Stingray on "Aeroplane")
Californication, By The Way - Modulus
Stadium Arcadium - Modulus, Fender
I remember when my bass teacher taught me that song. I was very fond of it.![]()
I think if Fender gave Flea a bass, id loose respect for them.

Interesting read. To me that says that whatever bass he is playing is secondary, he tries to dial in his same own sound every time. This in turn makes a signature bass from him "worthless", as signature for him only means: "more money for meeeeeeeeee ahahahahahahahhhhhhh"

I don't think its a case so much of him trying to dial in the same sound everytime but just the tone he gets from his fingers. I remember reading about Stadium Arcadium he recorded the album on the jazz bass with super dead strings and didn't really care what his amp was set like and its still his sound.

Ouf.
I knew from past testimony that Flea could be a bit of a d*** sometimes, but wow.
I think if Fender gave Flea a bass, id loose respect for them.
But, your respect for Fender was still nice and tight after Pete Wentz got a signature bass?![]()

I think I just lost respect for myself, for having read through five pages of this thread.
