More IEM questions. But really...

Hmm...I went to one audiologist and it was done right. But I also asked a simple question in advance; "Have you ever done IEM molds for musicians?"
Plus, the molds were covered by my health insurance since I was seeing my ENT Dr for an allergy test and the audiologist was part of the ENT team.

Can’t stress enough to try and use an audiologist recommended by an IEM manufacturer. ANY manufacturer’s recommendation will be a good one. Check multiple companies websites for one near you. If 64Audio doesn’t have any recommended audiologists near you, maybe Ultimate Ears or another company does. At the very least, find out if your audiologist has experience with IEM impressions, separate from hearing aid molds. Even if you have to travel a bit further or wait a bit longer for an appointment, (I waited over a month to visit an audiologist in another town) it’s so worth the time and energy to get them done right the first time.

Also good to inquire before hand if your audiologist will redo the impressions for free should the IEM manufacturer rejects the molds. They should.

You do NOT have to use one of the vendor recommended audiologists. You need one that has done lots of IEM impressions as most customs (I'm aware of) require the same kind of impressions!
Find a LARGE local church. They usually are IEM. Find out whom they use for their impressions, then go to THAT audiologist!

If you are near Austin, I recommend RK Audiology. RK did new impressions and Sensaphonics redid my IEMs. Sound quality has massively improved and isolation seems good. I can hear bass for the first time!

Just a quick update on my IEM journey. Got new molds taken at a new place with new mold material. Followed the Sensaphonics instructions to the letter. Just mailed them off this morning. Sensaphonics has been great to work with and very helpful.

Of course. And I do play for one of the largest churches (4 campuses). My point is that none of the big IEM brands have a recommendation for pretty much anywhere in Mi. You are right, people need to find an audiologist that has experience. In my case I called around and asked for one that would agree to follow 64Audio’s instructions.

Got my IEMs back as I was literally walking out my door Sat, to a gig. Took them along.

The right ear still isn't sealing like the left, and I'm not sure how I want to handle this. Suggestions are welcome.

Its a little bit better than where it was originally, but I have to twist, push, and angle it perfectly to get a seal, and then if I move too much its gone. And I have to maneuver it into place again while playing.

I gave them 2 molds. Done by different audiologists. We followed directions carefully. I don't know why it is as it is, and I'm fairly certain they're not going to take kindly to my calling (or emailing them) to say that its still not fitting properly. But I really don't feel like just throwing all this money out the window.

What would you do?

It's going to take more time.

Follow up with the audiologist(s) and tell them it's still not right with the right ear.

And of course be sure to acknowledge how grateful you are for their time and expertise in this matter.

Your the customer and things need to be made proper.

What would you do?

Get the fit fixed. You spent big $$$. A whole lot of patience is required when you have to ship back and forth, but in the end the payoff is long term satisfaction. I'm dropping my new IEMs in the mail today for a bit of adjustment so I know where you're coming from!

Not sure if it will help, but try pulling down on your ear lobe as you insert/press the earbud into your ear. It may help to seat it a little better.

There are also these foam wraps from Comply – although you really shouldn't have to mod your expensive IEMs to get them to work.

I went to order them a couple weeks ago, but couldn't find them in stock. Honestly though, they're kind of expensive, and given what paid for the IEMs I don't feel I should have to go that route.

I would call them. They are normally good about these things. Have you reached out to the local rep in the New York office? I know the Nashville rep goes above and beyond to make things right.

They are being really good about this. We've gone back and forth with a few emails and I get the sense that they want to get this right as much as I do. I have a phone appt with someone on Sat. They have my IEMs again... and we'll see what happens.
