Your poll options make me wonder what was the most expensive pick YOU have bought (or have seen).
I use the Modrez Pickboys 2.0 mm for fretless jazz/flatwounds. They are about $13.00

I use the EB Prodigy 1.5 and 2.0 standard 1" wide shields for punk with 50-110 roundwounds. These are about $13 for a six pack.

And I just ordered the V Pick 2.75 mm Pearly Gates Screamer and Pearly Gates Medium 2.75 mm for 50-110 roundwounds. They are about $10+ a piece. These are the picks Walter Becker used.

I like the shape (and the grip) of the Ibanez sand-grip picks and the Posi-Grip picks from Pickboy. They run in the $1.50-1.75 range. I think I got really fancy and got some sort of $3 wonder from Clayton once. It was…. fine.

I have nothing against regular Tortex, Ultex or Celuloid but I usually sand them down to a slightly stubbier shape.

feels good knowing i’m likely the “winner” (loser? 😆) in this thread.
i have a genuine mammoth ivory pick i think i paid $80 or so for. it’s not useable but its super cool.
i also have the $25 chris thile pick d’addario makes. i only use it for mandolin but it’s definitely worth the money.
for guitar or bass playing i’ve always loved the classic jazz III.

Perhaps one of the reasons I went to bass from guitar was because I liked that it didn’t require a pick. Whenever I tried a pick on bass, the strings always seemed impossibly far apart. The fatter strings and wider spacing just suited my meaty mitts.

Fender confetti color, Heavy thickness, tend to have a *slightly* sharper point than others. That's all I use.

Except one of my bands had picks custom-made that are pretty close to the Fender heavies, so just for kicks, I use those picks with that band.

Most expensive pick I’ve bought was a BlueChip. Can’t remember exactly what it cost at the time because it was several years ago. Maybe $30-ish. I was playing mandolin a lot back then and somehow BlueChip got recommended. It was a very nice pick.

These days I like a Dunlop Big Stubby 3mm for bass.

Purple Tortex was my go-to when I played guitar.

I got addicted to the Bog Street Ultem Battle Axe picks recently. I think that they are like $25 for a pack of 6, not cheap by any means. I like them a lot; smallish 1.5mm triangle picks with a grippy zone and a hole in the middle. I don't lose them, so I can justify the cost a bit.
