dunlop big stubby picks, 6 for $5 usd. less pick to dollar ratio than a 12 pack of tortex picks, but they're my favorite picks ive tried. i like the grippy indent in the middle, and they come to a fine point. they're very controllable and comfortable. i have them in 2mm and in 3mm

Really liking this Gravity 3 mm Razer too.

Sharp with a polished bevel. Super fast for sweep-picking and brings a deep, fat tone.

Might have been about $10?

Dunlop Flow Gloss 2.0mm - around $3 each. These are by far the best pick I've found for heavier strings in alternate tunings. The smaller size and polished tip, along with the thumb indent, makes it very easy to jump string to string and I get a really precise attack.

Love 'em.

They are made from the leftover red from tort pickguards. You have no idea how hard it is to separate the red pickguard shavings from the other colors. Takes tiny hands and a huge factory. Or they are made from baby dolphin teeth.. something like that 👍😆

I think they do.. im pretty sure I saw a 3.0mm online.

Been a long time since I bought picks, so memory hazy.

Settled on Dunlop Flow and PrimeTone 1.5.
Both came in 3 packs I think I paid $9 each = so $3 per pick

Don't use picks much so these are still around. Went thru a bunch of styles and guages and settled on these.

Same. For years I was plucking and slapping, but this year started a new project where I’m playing with a pick at least 3/4ths of the time. So I’ve been trying out a lot of picks. The Big Stubby is my fave. I love the fine point, but also the very smooth edge and rounded shape. It has the most pleasant sounding and feeling attack, IMO. And yeah, the double indentations just feels the best ergonomically.

I was gifted a pick made from jasper that I was told cost about $25. (Dunlop Gator pick for size reference). It’s a cool looking pick but a little too clickity/clackety to use for my taste.
Weird, I have a jasper pick, too, and it's by FAR the darkest pick I own. It's really nice looking, though

i like the attack on these as well, in terms of sound and feel

What's your go to, cheap-o pick or your favorite more expensive pick and why.
Tortex purple... they used to be 25 cents a piece I think I'm bought 10 or 15 and I still have them. I used mostly fingers, however if I'm playing a steel string guitar I will use the tortex purple with no problem, but I also play a little bit of classical guitar, bossa nova.... sans plectrum which carries over to electric bass.

I was watching the John McLaughlin DVD years ago and his bass player was a European and he was playing thumb and two fingers and I thought that's interesting, a classical fingering tecnique on electric bass... so I employed that classical approach to my bass playing & it has been a nice addition. If I'm just cruising along it's 3 fingers tho' -- it's good to have tools in the toolbag.
