dunlop big stubby picks, 6 for $5 usd. less pick to dollar ratio than a 12 pack of tortex picks, but they're my favorite picks ive tried. i like the grippy indent in the middle, and they come to a fine point. they're very controllable and comfortable. i have them in 2mm and in 3mm
Agreed. I have a regular size for my guitar and the bigger for the bass. Alternate them with a Dunlop toted triangle for tone

Tortex purple... they used to be 25 cents a piece I think I'm bought 10 or 15 and I still have them. I used mostly fingers, however if I'm playing a steel string guitar I will use the tortex purple with no problem, but I also play a little bit of classical guitar, bossa nova.... sans plectrum which carries over to electric bass.

I was watching the John McLaughlin DVD years ago and his bass player was a European and he was playing thumb and two fingers and I thought that's interesting, a classical fingering tecnique on electric bass... so I employed that classical approach to my bass playing & it has been a nice addition. If I'm just cruising along it's 3 fingers tho' -- it's good to have tools in the toolbag.
Must have been Jonas Hellborg on bass.

I utilize classical acoustic guitar fingering technique for bass sometimes as well, but not because I saw anyone else do it.

I also utilize flamenco guitar style, index and/or middle and/or ring, finger flicking technique, but only began practicing that because I watched someone else on YouTube doing it, to great effect.

Wouldn't have thought of that myself.

You can pluck the strings really fast this way, otherwise only attainable using a pick.

What were YOU thinking?????
I had bought 25 of them from the US mint for collectible gifts. They were relatively new then. With shipping and whatnot I think they ended up costing me about 2 bucks each, so twice face value. Still have a few in a box somewhere. Recipients actually using the coin for anything (other than maybe spending it) didn’t occur to me.

I hope he didn't mess up a 2000-P "Cheerios" (check your box?)!... ;)

(Edit) Never mind, I see you mentioned 2001 in first reply....

We got brunch at a Mex restaurant, down the street a couple months ago. It is a real small place and they invited a panhandler in, to walk around and play acoustic guitar. Here is the important part; He was playing (pick style) with a lens from a pair of sunglasses----and that is exactly what it sounded like. We scarfed down our divorciado's & beers and got the hell out---before he had time to do his 3rd Elvis Presley rendition. 💨

I would have recognized Jonas.
There several DVD's one has Husband on drums with a coupla homebrew effects cymbals, the other has a young African kit drummer but that might be a Zawinul... I have to check... post Thanksgiving drive home today, I'm beat. After tomorrow catching up on some bench work, I might find a bit of time to dig around.
