Most over rated bassist has to be pete wentz of fall out boy, he can't play to save his life yet he's popular among the mainstream industery

I'm surprised it took so long for you people to mention pete wentz.

And it's not his playing that made the band popular, so you can't even use that for a reason.

As for my opinion, Jaco Pastorius.

I just defended Pete Wentz and dissed Jaco in the same post.

*dons flame suit*

not this one again. This will get closed.

Nikki Sixx. He also very very lucky in the girlfriend dept at the moment with Kat Von D.

I hate when people say Flea. Have you ever played his stuff? Heard a whole album of RHCP? He is a grooving fool that sometimes gets overshadowed by his early slappy flash stuff.

-1 on the first comment and +1 on the second

I think Kat Von D is an extremely overrated woman, she has a nice rack, but no curves and no booty, plus i dont like over-tattooed women, a few are fine but she looks a hot mess with all them random tattoo's.

And yes flea is awesome, and if anything, he's underrated. There's just a lot of haters out there.

PETE WENTZ! Holy god, I can't even count how many times some little scene girl has argued with me that he is the most amazing bassist ever.. because hes "hot"?? Dubya Tee EFF!

Fall Out Boy's music isn't even good either so that didn't make them popular.. what did?, their older stuff was ok.. but once they became popular they started sucking hardcore..

Some bass players are like big muscle cars, V8's, in a straight line no one can touch them. Then there are those bass players who are like a beautifully built GT car and can take you on a journey with style and grace. Some are total self publicists who claim to be pushing the envelope, then there are the guys who build the bridge from rythmn to melody. It all comes down to what kind of person you are and where your predudices lie that make us think someone is over or underated.

This thread is just goofy. At some point, every major bass player whether it be Wooten, Jaco, Geddy or Wentz, Hoppus, Fieldy are going to get mentioned. Whether its "best", "worst" or "overrated", these threads essentially become "Lists of Bass Players":hmm:

I'd like to stress that this is my opinion and just the way I feel-
Cliff Burton
Steve Harris
:hiding::help::hiding:

And inevitably any bass player who has an ounce of fame seeing as everyones tastes are different

If any bassist is tasteful, they're fine with me; whether that be just playing roots for a whole album or slapping through every song.

I don't like the negativity this thread brings, myself. Someone's always bound to dump on someone else's favorite player(s).
