The Fender/ Sunn 300 Pro/T is a GREAT head, most people won't try it out though.

That was the other thing that shocked me, it was STUPID LOUD! I could barely nudge the master past 2 without drowning out everyone in the shop.Total SVT killer.
Most underrated tube bass amp?
Peavey VB2. Hands down.
Not only is it ridiculously inexpensive, I think it's the best amp out there.
I've been alternating gigs between the VB2, my tube SVT's, GK 1001RBII and my SansAmp RBI and for me, the VB2 wins. It blows away my SVTs.
It sounds like a HIWATT, only much more powerful and with a better tone control arrangement. After decades of companies either copying the SVT with 6550 or staying with 6L6, I'm glad to see someone make a modern and truly powerful EL34 bass amp.
I think the VB2 is worth 2-3 times what they sell for.
It's the best kept secret in bass amplification.

I'd like to know more about these. Any links? A quick google did me no good![]()
I just got a Sunn 200S off Craigslist the other day for $280. It needs a little TLC but I can't wait to get it up and running. I know it's a lot less powerfull than most of the ones you guys are listing here but I'm sure it will have the all good tube goodness everyone loves!Cant wait!!

IMO, tone-wise, a 200S is as good as it gets.

What kept me from getting this head, was the sub par performance, through an 810. If I had a smaller cab, say a 410, 212, 210 etc, I would have went with the VB2.
What was your VB2/8x10 experience?
Mine RIPS through my Mesa Powerhouse 8x10.
