Music dreams?

I actually have a recurring dream. I am on tour with a band and we have a stop in Raleigh at the amphitheater (the closest major venue to where I live and a place where I have seen dozens of concerts). Instead of doing one show, we do two. The first night is a standard issue band show (Friday night). The second show (Saturday night) is called a "Family Reunion" show and all of the guys who have played in bands with me over thirty some odd years get up and play with us. It is broadcast on several local TV stations.

When I was young I often dreamed music dreams. These days I seldom dream. And when I do it's like... Well I think I was falling and woke up. Just little unclear bits of odd stuff. I think my brain needs to be purged of 57 years of useless info.

I don't play piano, but I have a recurring dream where I'm playing and I know EXACTLY what I'm doing. It's totally amazing. I'm even aware of it during the dream but it never lasts past waking up.

Most of my dreams are banal in the extreme. Again, even during the dream itself (my dreams often come with kind of a Greek chorus pre-installed) I'll wonder, "really, this is the best you can do? Where's the italian super models?". And then I proceed to change the spark plugs on my old Buick. Sigh.

After I joined my first band, but before I had my first live performance with them, I had a dream I was playing on an outdoor state with them when my gear started to fail. As I was troubleshooting, the guitarist was telling me, "It's okay, we'll keep playing while you figure it out." It was kind of terrible, I guess it was my brain's guess at a worse case scenario.

I have had strange dreams of being at/ playing festivals. One dream I remember from when I was younger involved the Grateful Dead playing out in the country at a friends house, the one part I remember decently is my friends mom giving me a cup of mushroom tea to drink and then things getting "dreamier".

Oh yeah I've had that as well, someone once said "deja vu proves time is not linear" I don't know, its just strange.
How can I dream the future?

Remember the future, man:

Have you ever had any music dreams?
Last night I dreamt I was in this place where we used to have discos when I was a kid, only this time I was playing bass in the band.

Do dreams ever mean anything to you? Or are they just random stuff?
Hope you don't mean Disco as you dreamed you're playing in a Disco Band!
That would be more like nightmare !:(

My dream
John: Hey George, where's Paulie off to?
George: I don't know, he said he had to look after his grandfather.
John: Blimey!...How are we to finish this tour then?
George: Well then there's this lad in the front row named Pdaddy or something who says he knows all our songs.
John: Crikey!.. he's a bit fat and ugly to fit in with us but, I guess we'll give him a shot.
Ringo: Hey lads, aren't we supposed to have broken up about the same year he got his first bass?
John: Shut it you silly git! It's a dream now isn't it?
Ringo: oh yeah, dream...I like dreams

And then I wake up.....

I've had dreams where i hear songs i haven't listened to in years, clear as day. Funny thing is the times its happened it was with songs i probably only heard a few times, not songs i listen to constantly.

I've also had dreams where i hear myself(or others) playing music that is obviously original. Its pretty cool to wake up from that and realize you have all these beautiful songs already inside of you. Its also happened with artwork, where i see really cool paintings and I realize they basically exist in my mind.

I also had a dream where i saw one of my musical heroes and he gave me some advice which still shapes how i see music. Dreams are awesome.

These dreams used to happen when i was more obsessed with music and art, and basically thinking about them 24/7 though.
