I know everyone has different preferences and that's as it should be, but I admit I actually laughed out loud a bit when I read "Sadowsky...yuk no thanks." I guess just because its so far from my own experience. I do enjoy other basses as well, though, so I get how not every bass, no matter how nice, is right for every player, every room, every gig. A Caprice is no doubt a terrific bass, and I have an Ibanez BTB33 that I like a lot, so there are Ibby's that are fine instruments, so all disclaimers in place. OK, carry on.

Wouldn't the St Vincent body shape make for a terrible bass? You either need a super short scale with the bridge in the middle of the body or arms of an NBA player to reach the first fret.

It's going to be a short scale bass.

Can't guarantee I'll like it, when it eventually arrives, but I'm really intrigued by the prospect.

Black/Rosewood. Looks especially tight with my Dog Days psychedelic strap. Thing is a tone beast and plays like butter. Best neck I've played (other than my custom LaBella Olinto).

no disclaimers here i bought two, once i thought was maybe a fluke, but the second one confirmed that there just aren't really any details about those sorts of basses that i dig...sound is OK, but wearing an ungainly boat paddle, no way around that...so many people dig the traditional Fender type basses or the sadowsky modern take on the old design and that's cool, because when you get down to it, the ray is leo's design too, and without him, we wouldn't be having this caprice discussion...hey man, silver lining!

Buy 2 so you can swap necks and have a unique look although right now I'm thinking a tort guard on the black/rosewood would be pretty rad. To tide me over until the buttercream limited edition.

The Cutlass does definitely seem less popular than the Caprice. Over in the club thread I think there's only one. I'm glad I got my Caprice when I did.

I really like Timmy C's natural HH with stealth hardware. Briefly considered buying two, making a Timmy C natural/stealth and a stealth with chrome and then selling the chrome stealth, but that's gonna be too expensive.

It's really too bad that they aren't more popular. They blow the Am Pro Fenders away as far as I'm concerned. But it makes sense that most who want an "amazing version of a P bass"... just want a P bass.

I've got a Big Al 4 SSS and yes it's very cool! Obviously they didn't sell well enough, though, so they were discontinued. But just like kinopah was alluding to above, when people think of Musicman, most of them think of the Stingray. Just like when most people think of a P bass they think Fender.
