Music Man Caprice: True Boutique Quality

Curiosity got the better of me so I drove to my local GC to check out the Caprice.

Could not believe how absolutely light weight it is. The neck was slim and fast. I actually never understood what was meant by a fast neck until playing the Caprice. The smallish body was nice too, probably comtributing to the light weight. Although the body was smallish, the bass, on my knee, was balanced. To top it off, it looks great. Fortunately I'm all out of gas

I have played that Caprice three days in a row, and you guys can say I told you so: I have GAS really bad! This beats that Elrick I played years ago and my old Cirrus as the nicest four string I have ever played. That neck is addictive! That tiny body reminds me of my DJ5, and I LOVE my DJ5! I don't see me getting one before 2017, but I will get one. I will be happy getting a four. This just might the four that I will actually keep (not counting my U-Bass.)

I was really surprised at how small the neck is. I really kinda want that bass but I still deny gas.

It also reminds of a fatter version of the old Peavey necks. There is nothing about the Caprice that I don't like.

I got my Caprice last friday. I've played it on 6 gigs since then. Its been a busy week.. . I Love the neck.. Great build quality. .
The bass with P Pup only has a Nice growl with the Maple fingerboard. Each note has extreme focus and point..
It replaced my two Fender RoadWorn basses a Jazz and a P roadworn with this bass. It's not the same, it is different. But its what i need now. A fast reacting, punchy and focused Passive bass..
With the J Pickup dialed in , the caprice is sort of reminiscent of an active bass with its silky high end.. . .

EDIT.. my magellan is on a return trip from another gig. .I played my Peavey Mini Mega 1000 with my Old Uber 115... It's very potent yet small rig

I just got one the other day. Mine is 8.5 pounds. Punchy as all heck. . I bought it from Bass central in Florida who gave me a MUCH better price than sweetwater. no shipping cost too. It was a deal i had to take. Im digging this bass .. And they were accurate on their weight listed on the site

I'm a huge Musicman fan, sadly this thing visually just doesn't appeal (not a fan of how big pole pieces look).

Spoke to a Local shop here in Australia - Retail is $4100AUD and about $3600AUD street. Completely ridiculous IMO.

Doesn't appear to come in a 5 string yet. Cheese, lemme borrow a pen so's I can write to Sterling Ball & ask why.

Im OK with the Music Man 17.5 mm 5 string spacing , although i prefer 19mm. I just don't like the Musicman 5 string design. Their G string is so close to the edge of the neck that i find it uncomfortable.. Much closer than any other bass...
Only on their 5 stings. The G string practically rides on the fret edge.... My sadowsky, lull, alleva copplo and fender american 5 string basses have the G string at least an 1/8" from the edge of the FB.. That is my complaint against the Stingray 5.. If they fixed that i would own one in a second

NewJust wanted to echo this complaint. Same on my BigAl. I redid the nut, and much better. Worth it for the tone im getting.

I might misunderstand, but to me those seem to be from the recent Music Man-line, made by Markbass. (i.e. they're not reissues, but look similar to the hybrid Music Man amps of yesteryear) Don't know if you can get them in the U.S.A. yet, but they can be found in Europe.
