I'm sure it plays and sounds fantastic, as all Music man basses I've touched have been perfect. But damn, if they don't look Ugly as hell. I may be in the minority, but it looks like someone took a Precision, melted it, added some pastel color, and charged 1500 dollars for it.

Great demo as always Dr that bass sounded nice when I first saw them I too thought "not another PJ" but I'm impressed.
Have you seen once in a store? It looks much better there than online.
Not yet, but that's good to hear. Though, I certainly don't need GAS for anything else at the moment!
As much as I love to slam it on a 4 string, for practical reasons I wish this came in a 5
Digging the smallish body, being a smallish guy. I have no prob with full-size Fender-esque basses, but if a bass can be a little smaller and still feel really balanced, I'm all for it.
5-string with 19mm spacing??
Do some research. Sterling Ball is dead set against 19mm spaced fives. Maybe seven years ago, he dared TB members to preorder a certain number of wide spaced SR5s, and he would make them. We did not pony up. He basically called us tire kickers since he felt we proven his point about actual demand for wide spaced Music Man basses.
I need to go back and try it again. I was completely underehelmed when I tried one recently. But I did get gas for an Ibanez Talman.
I need another pj like i need a hole in the head. Will go check it out though...
Similar experience here. Played one for a while at GC, was blown away by the fit/finish and playability. I own a SLO Ray HH with matching headstock, amazing bass but the Caprice seemed like a step up.
I had the cheapest Talman for week and loved it before I was overcome by a feeling that it was superfluous, so I sold it cheap to a young Gospel player.
Now I miss it.
I may have go back and buy a TMB100 or 300 because they are really nice.
Long term, I really like this Caprice, but Lord knows I cannot drop $1,699 without some saving and budgeting, if at all since I truly do not need one at church.

I just got one the other day. Mine is 8.5 pounds. Punchy as all heck. . I bought it from Bass central in Florida who gave me a MUCH better price than sweetwater. no shipping cost too. It was a deal i had to take. Im digging this bass .. And they were accurate on their weight listed on the site

Im OK with the Music Man 17.5 mm 5 string spacing , although i prefer 19mm. I just don't like the Musicman 5 string design. Their G string is so close to the edge of the neck that i find it uncomfortable.. Much closer than any other bass...
Only on their 5 stings. The G string practically rides on the fret edge.... My sadowsky, lull, alleva copplo and fender american 5 string basses have the G string at least an 1/8" from the edge of the FB.. That is my complaint against the Stingray 5.. If they fixed that i would own one in a second

the fretwork rivals every custom bass that i own.. Its a great build! I just put a hipshot D Tuner on it.. and now its mine

I don't know, you may need one at church. I can't speak for the Lord, but I know a lot of my congregation would love that mid-punch!
That's kind of a place where I am trying to take my Roscoe Beck. At a bit higher weight, though.
