Thank you! That's a standard PCB based vintage style 2 band preamp (MC466W) also used in the StingRays. Most likely your opamp is an LM4250 - if so, that's the no longer made original opamp (which also sounds the best for this application).

For now the shim is still in place, want to test the bass with flats soon, let's see how easily my preferred settings can be achieved, maybe I'll also try it then without it.

Unless you’re already a dyed-in-the-wool TI or Labella person, make sure to try the EB cobalt flats! I adore them on my coral Classic Sterling, it really is a perfect match of strings and bass, imo.
