Hi. Do you find EB's setup specs a little bit too vague? Maybe a little bit confusing too?
- How much is a "business card"?
- In order to follow the fingerboard radius, you should set ALL the strings at the same exact action. So why they talk about bass side and treble side? Even Fender does that, I never understood why.
I also must say that adjusting the truss rod using their method results in a VERY bowed (concave) neck. The relief is just too much for my taste.
- What does it mean "Adjust the bass side of the pickup to be parallel with the pickguard"? No bass side/treble seide measurement this time?
6/32" (almost 5 millimeters) for the G string is too much, ime. My pickup doesn't catch almost anything if set like that.
Plus, some new pickups (StingRay Special for example) should be set at the same height for both bass and treble side because they are already balanced. Doing ehat they suggest results in a too loud G string.
I tried to setup my Stingray like I do with my Fenders and is seems much better to me. What do you guys think? And what do you guys do?
I tend to ignore suggested setup measurements and just set things up to my liking based on how I play the instrument. I tend to enjoy a bit more relief than probably the average player and I dig in quite a bit too so I have to adjust for that.
