Whoa. This is passive, right? I'd have got one, but I'm not sure if you can tune it down.
Yes! I'm stoked for the fact that the shortscales are passive - it's right up my alley. If you're worried about downtuning causing a detriment to your volume, I don't think it would; plus, the push-push volume pot yields a decent amount of boost when needed.
Disclaimers: 1. I know it's not an actual boost (bc passive) but it is a volume increase, as normal position is cut slightly I suppose; 2. I don't have a band right now so my experience is just living-room based so far.

If you really want a passive but are concerned about the scale length for down-tuning, you can try to hunt down one of these:
This thing is an incredible playing instrument. The neck and body feel just perfect. I personally would have preferred if it was active so I might end up returning mine, as unfortunate and surely regrettable that would be. I like the passive tone, but I feel like I could easily get close to that sound with an active Ray, but with the active Ray I can also get a lot more other tones. The reason I am leaning towards returning this is that I can get all of my money back for it, whereas, if I were to sell one of my other SR Specials instead, I will be losing out a good deal of money from the depreciation.
finally time to change strings so I popped the neck....
it was sitting in a friend's collection and never really used, he passed away and his wife gifted it to me...it's amazing...

I can't seem to find a 'general' or 'overall' EBMM club, but I figured the Stingray Club would probably have the most 'experts'. I tend to shy away from EBMM because I just don't get the naming convention that they use with MM, EBMM, SBMM, OLP, EBMM SUB, SBMM SUB.
Anyway, I saw this on REVERB and thought, wow I never saw or heard of one of these.

Seems to be a current (up to some time ago) model: Silhouette Bass Guitar | Guitars | Ernie Ball Music Man. A mix of bass and guitar.
It seems it's just under 30" scale and you can get it in either of 2 configurations: E-E tuning or A-A tuning. E-E would be more like a Bass VI (like the old Fender) and I would think the A-A tuning would be more like a typical baritone guitar.
I was thinking about posting that clip too! Really cool jam there, and really does a good job demonstrating how it can be used like bass and/or guitar.
Huge fan of my stingray V. took me awhile to get used to the 17.5mm spacing, but once I did it was on. This beauty was built in 2002. The tone is immense, I really don't have anything else that sounds like it in my stable. I hope everyone is having a good day and got to jam on their stingray today.
