I agree that the pearl takes away from the finish, but I'm a huge fan of the white guard/black pup tuxedo look. Of those two, probably black... but throw a plain white in the mix...

I agree with @kinopah, I think the black creates a really cool solar eclipse effect...

Well, well, well: I believe this very bass has now landed in my hands, purchased at the Albuquerque Music-Go-Round. See pic upthread. It's an absolute classic.

My turn to join in with my 2011 SR4H 3EQ. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it is what it is - a great instrument. I had an OLP 10 years back, the original Korean ones, and it was OK. A few months back I stumbled across an SBMM Ray34, and that really convinced me that the Stingray was what I had been missing. A few weeks ago, this one turned up on the local classifieds. Fiddled with it for a few minutes before I coughed up the cash.

Nice! That bass was absolutely killer! I sold it to a friend here in ABQ. As much as I loved that bass, I needed to sell one and opted to keep my G&L L2500 that was a 10th anniversary gift from my wife. I'll never let go of the G&L, though my main player is a custom Muckelroy that I had Brady build to my spec. That Ray 5 was one of the best, though.

OH YEAH. Great tone and playing. When I was checking it out at Musicgoround, sales dude told me the bass had made the rounds of some of ABQ's better bassists, and I had a feeling you probably must have been in the picture there somewhere. I bought it and then came home and put my EBMM Sterling 5 fretless on the market. Couldn't hold a candle to Stingray.

Yes, it's the re-envisioned / updated USA Acoustic 361. Rear-firing 18" Eminence with horn and 400 watt internal power amp designed by Russ Allee. I think they've gone out of business at this point, so I'm glad I got this one when I did.

Impressive low end from even my 420 115. Ran it alongside stacked 410's for larger stages.
Sold it to a High On Fire touring bassist playing local House Of Blues last Nov. who ran it
w/ an 810 and deafened many. I'd loaded it w a 421JBL. Acoustic's good stuff. Off topic apologies.

Hey, thanks! I don't know if I'd consider myself one of ABQ's "better" bassists, but I appreciate the kind words! I actually brought that bass to ABQ a few years ago after a disappointing experience with a Roscoe fretless. The Roscoe was a very good bass, but after one gig, I knew I needed an SR5 and stumbled on that one here on TB. If I didn't have my custom Muckelroy, I'd be jonesing to get that one back!
