Yeah I love pearl pickguards, but I'm surprised to prefer the black. I think the pearl takes away from the depth of the finish, whereas it looks great on my black Ray where there's no texture to compete with.
Having the best kind of crisis today... which is when you have to decide to go with white pearl or the stock black... AND if you go with the pearl, do you get a tort guard for your black/maple to replace it! AUGHGHGH!!!!! So crazy how different it looks in different light.
(This bass is quite nice.)

Here's my '94 fretless SR5. Was nearly mint when I bought it in 2012. I LOVE this bass - my go-to fretless. The neck feels INCREDIBLE. Very smooth, with some subtle, but very classy flame and birdseye figure.

Well, well, well: I believe this very bass has now landed in my hands, purchased at the Albuquerque Music-Go-Round. See pic upthread. It's an absolute classic.
Tonight was the maiden voyage of my new '96 unlined fretless EBMM SR5, purchased in Albuquerque. The verdict: it KILLED.

Also, FWIW, that bass is absolutely killer in the studio. I used it on at least 5 albums that I remember. Here's one of the tracks I used it on:

Sweet bass. Unlined SR5 is a rare bird around these parts.
Love the cab. Is that the traditional folded horn design?
Yes, it's the re-envisioned / updated USA Acoustic 361. Rear-firing 18" Eminence with horn and 400 watt internal power amp designed by Russ Allee. I think they've gone out of business at this point, so I'm glad I got this one when I did.
OH YEAH. Great tone and playing. When I was checking it out at Musicgoround, sales dude told me the bass had made the rounds of some of ABQ's better bassists, and I had a feeling you probably must have been in the picture there somewhere. I bought it and then came home and put my EBMM Sterling 5 fretless on the market. Couldn't hold a candle to Stingray.
