Not always. My ex girlfriend is living proof.

Current girlfriend is fantastic, and I hope she stays that way.

wow. in one day's time?
Yeah. Problem is that I am divorced with kids, and while I want to introduce her to the kids as soon as possible, my daughter is having a lot of problems in school right now that stem from being upset about the fact that her mom and I are no longer together.
So, I asked her to give me some time to defuse the situation with my daughter, and to be honest I really don't want to rush into something and have it fall apart.
So, she flipped out last night, telling me that I wasn't giving her a chance, that I was feeding her a line of BS, and that kids are resilient and can deal with it. This is after weeks of supportive behavior. It was almost like a switch flipped in her head.
So, now I'm starting to wonder if she is someone that I want around the kids in the first place.
*Edit - her name is Keighley, and she's mine! You might be out of luck.
I'd call that a red flag. She's trying to put her happiness above your kids.

Exactly. Despite trying to explain it to her, she still isn't grasping that it doesn't matter if it's her or someone else, my kids come first. If I don't think the kids are ready to meet her, then that's that, she needs to be patient.
Now I'm thinking that it's not a good idea to continue.
Sit her down and talk to her about it. Maybe there's some justifiable reason why she feels this way. If not, then it might be good to call it off.
Well, we've been together over a year and a half. In that time we've had about as many fights as my ex-wife and I had in a week. It helps that she's also my best friend and that we're both strong individuals whose lives are not defined by each other. I'll be sure to update you in two years when everything is as peachy keen as it is now.
