musicians emotions

hey, i live in a "dangerous" country so maybe it just feels the same way here.

I believe that people in general likes musicians being angry with the situation as they're making a second john lennon with me so i have to be in touch with people likes and emotions. i know that in your radio stations do play thrash music and not only thrash metal they play commercial empty music too. i've lived in another country but not as musician and i was very open to every kind of music and had a great time, but i can't be that way anymore and im very angry because it. i'll appreciate that anykind of comment about what i have to do you reserve it, i want to know if yo feel that people likes you being angry.

If I follow what you're saying, I guess it's that the public will always want to hear music that speaks to what their feelings and mood are. We can't talk politics on this forum, but clearly Venezuela is very unstable and in conflict right now, and that will affect what the public mood is for musicians. Sometimes people want escape, fun, and fantasy; sometimes they want angry confrontation with the things that oppose them; sometimes they want something reassuring and traditional. It varies.

well, its not about the political problems. i believe they like music of angry people... ( im not saying its bad music, but what lyrics and intention means is anger) RAP, Regueton, Metal, Heavy electronic music, etc. upset singers...

its like they want you to be a serial killer or a peace hippie like Jhon Lennon. I believe this can be a point for investigation really important for us for a tesis, maybe.

I believe there are two types people in this world. Those who like certain music because they relate to it (anger, sad, happy whatever it is that makes them feel like they aren’t alone in their feelings) and those who like certain music because they wish they could relate to it (rappers with tons of jewelry, expensive cars, and cash in music videos, pop stars that’s are stalked by paparazzi or need body gaurds to fight off teenage girls lol)

I think the worst feeling someone can feel is loneliness. I remember years back I went through a very rough time with family members going to jail and my dad passing away 3 weeks before my first child was born. I hit rock bottom but listening to sad music like Cold made me realize other people go through rough stuff as well so I’m not alone so it actualy has a positive impact on me

yes but the point i want to argue is if you feel people like you when youre angry... that point its very dangerous for both artist and public, because maybe the artist its angry because the people isnt doing ok... i dont know if you understand.

Hi,

It depends on your musical situation. Yes, sometimes the fans of your music will want you to use your music to make statements, statements that support a certain agenda, statements that speak about how people are treated, statements against a government or politician.

In 1968 The Beatles were feeling a lot of pressure to advocate for a violent change to the "status quo" regarding governments and the Viet Nam war. But in the song "Revolution" he wrote the words...

Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out

John Lennon did not want his music to be used for political purposes. He was all about peace, love, drugs, and rock'n'roll.

My situation is quite different. I play cover music for people who want to party. I'm lucky that I just get to have fun. Your part of the world has been going through some hard times. I hope you can stay safe and still find some fun.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

If I may, I think that few folks on this board understand how very different the situation in your country is from how it is here, so our insights might be of limited value to you.

I wish you the best, though!

No I understand but you also have to get that music for a lot of people is a way to vent. People like “angry” music because they can vent. I know that may seem confusing but I’ll put it this way. Having played in the rock and metal worlds for two decades the angriest sounding bands tend to be the nicest people you’ll meet and the bubble gum pop folks tend to be the biggest jerks you’ll meet. But yes music is a reflection of reality. I won’t get into politics and all that because it’s against TB forum rules but I’ll simply say when people are pissed off they tend to listen to music that allows them to vent those feelings. As opposed to putting on some “fake smile” music which is irritating to listen to when you don’t relate to it.

do you feel it is better to "vent" those emotion thru music than try to delete them thru music? , because i believe that in a sort of way "playing those feelings" you're making them real. i really like several kind of music it can be good in several ways (for me)

ok. Have you thought that most people like you to be angry because they are happy if you're angry because they can laugh at you being angry and few people likes you to be angry because they can are angry too or just enjoy angry music? is it worth the sacrifice?
