For big (fat) guys, "relaxed fit" is kind of essential.

Sure, but even when you're big, there's a difference between picking a set of clothes that fit well with the body you have versus just draping yourself in a tent. To judge by your profile pic, you've got a good feel for what looks good on you.

But you're right, narrow or stretchy/clingy stuff is definitely not the right fit for everyone...

...It's a matter of knowing what works for you and what doesn't without spiraling into being negative on yourself.

I should have been clearer with my snark. Definitely not advocating slim fit for everyone. Screw the fashion mags.

Still, almost no matter your size, flattering clothes can be chosen that fit your body though admittedly shopping for them will be more difficult for some folks.
