Never did I say that I doubted you on this.

I can understand that you're still angry about it, but again, I don't think that pointing fingers without the full story is correct either, regardless of how you feel. Granted, the evidence is stacking against Mike, no matter what his friends may say regarding his situation or attitude.

Regurgitation of the facts does not change my mind about the fact that just simply being pissy is not going to solve jack ****. Have you attempted to call Mike? Has anyone? Emails? Contacting his employer? If people are so up in arms, and this particular instance is becoming such a source of contention and hurt feelings, why isn't more being done to attempt to get the answers from Mike? Luckily, I was broke as hell during this whole thing, so I did not lose any money, but some people are out a lot of cash, and that, is unacceptable.

No, I never said that you did something wrong, I simply pointed out that I think your attitude blows.

That said, I do wish we could get an itemized list in this situation, as there is such an issue with what's going on. Someone get me Mike's number, and I'll call him myself to stop all the damn bitching. I'm getting REALLY sick of people thinking that posting in a damn thread on a website is going to solve anything.

Please note Thor...this it not solely directed at you. I'm more frustrated with the situation than anything else and think you've been more patient than I would be. Sorry if you feel I've stepped on your toes.

Apology duly noted. Though, I didn't appreciate the 'blows' comment.
At my advanced age, I don't really use that particular phraseology
as I find it a bit offensive.

Yes, I think someone here does need to get some input from
Mike. And I don't think I am the appropriate person to do it
as it would probably end badly at best.

But since my charity auction was posted in your forum
(granted, prior to your modding it) maybe you might be
the appropriate person to help settle this matter to everyone's satisfaction.

I appreciate your constructive suggestion. And if our discourse
here can move us a step closer to redressing the situation to some
mutual satisfaction, then it is a step in the right direction.

FWIW, I am perfectly satisfied that the disbursement in the
summer of 2006 was made as stated by both Mike and Tom,
and I don't even consider that at issue. It is the Feb 2007
situation where things go awry and I would focus on that
time period if I were handling this.

I expect Tombowlus could provide a contact for you.

I'll send Josh what I have, though I am not certain if it is still a good number.

Tom.

Thanks Tom...I'll put this out there now, so if you all don't hear from me for awhile, this is why...I leave tomorrow morning at about 4:30am to move cross country. I'll have internet access back up on Monday, the 1st.

BigMike has said what he had to say, he continues to downright refuse to disclose any information about any of the money and where it has gone. That's his choice, not mine. I think that his defensive attitude and unwillingness to help speaks volumes.

Instead of owning up to his mistake and being helpful, he has denied any wrong doing and still continues to give excuses instead of cutting the B.S. and giving us some facts.

He has mislead many TB'ers, lied to them, and continues to duck and dodge and real answers. That IMO is a dishonest person any way you dish it out, an honest person would own up to their mistake and apologize. But BigMike is above apologizing to people he has lied to or used thier name (jeff) on this board. We are talking about people's hard earned money that he is playing "games" with yet he still does not feel the need to respond with anything other than excuses and lies.

You may not call it theft but when someone takes my money and says it will be used for "xxxx charity" and when I ask for proof it was used for "xxxx charity" they basically tell me to screw off, then the charity never happens and the money I donated is missing.........that my friend in stealing, whether or not he kept the money, it was his duty to see that it went towards what it was supposed to....starting this charity and getting the ball rolling.....he dropped the ball and lost my money......

p.s. I wonder if the companies he endorses know that he is dragging their name through the mud also by his association with them.

Sweet!...I leave cross country tomorrow, at 4:30am also, I will have Internet access back on the 1st....

...Freaky eh?

Have a great Labour Day Weekend Everyone!

Party On.....

All I need is the phone number... ;)

Do you honestly think he's going to give you any more information than he's given here?

A bit naive, if you ask me.....Mike was a very active member here, and now he has, apparently, totally given that up to dodge this issue. If anything, this forum has proven a GREAT way to contact Mike, and therefore, it's beneficial to post here. You know he's watching this thread, right? You do know that his friends here are probably still in communication with him, right? The reality is that he is fully aware of this discussion and has had every opportunity to address this issue.

To help this along I'll give Mike a ring. He has a new number- his L.A. number doesn't work any longer........AND DO NOT PM ME ASKING FOR HIS NEW #- YOU WILL NOT GET A REPLY BACK.

I am NOT promising anything.
But if I can get something that I find useful to post about, I will.
I also will not field any questions if Mike decides to talk about it, and subsequently says it's cool to post about it.

This needs closure.
We all know that.

At some point we need to cut our losses- as crappy as that really may be.

And Thor, I love ya man, your opinion is as valid as anyone's and IMO you do have a right to be a bit upset regarding this.

It is truly unfortunate that this is the way it is ending, I know
how difficult this must all be for you.

Next beer is on me, assuming Momma will let you out with
aging bassists of increasing physical decrepitude, known
moral turpitude and blow-some negative attitude. :smug:

+1

I couldn't care less about the $20 I gave, but it does disturb me if the guy who asked for donations to help another decided to keep it for himself--and on top of that told anyone asking to bug off.

i have to agree to this here. i don't think the proper tone from the beginning was adopted by the originator of this endeavor. if someone's too busy to do something correctly then they should not start it, especially if it involves other people's money.

anyone -ANYONE- undertaking an effort like this should be keeping PUBLIC OPEN records of what was going on. not that hard - you see similar things happening all the time on this site with the various "clubs" where numbers are assigned, or the gtg's where folks need to pitch in to help pay for stuff.

if someone wanted to remain annonymous, the organizer could private message that individual with a number and then publicly list out that number along with donation amount. (ala "Annonymous donor #1 - $50" ). not rocket science, simple transactional common sense, and not that much effort, certainly no more effort than the original donation thread required.

the fact is, bmw dropped the ball here, by taking other people's money without providing a solid reviewable record of it. there's a gap between "donations" and "disbursement" that obviously has not been addressed to the donors' satisfaction, and rallying behind someone's good personality and demeanor here just obfuscates that very basic point.

attacking the donors in this thread who are legitimately upset that their concerns are not being addressed is severely misdirected, imo, and needs to stop now.

furthermore, mike getting all snappy about this stuff is totally out of line, although apparently there's little chance of that happening anymore. i'm sorry but he has absolutely no right to cop any attitude - he screwed up, and the fact that r/l now has thrown him a curve or whatever happened to make this endeavor worthwhile anymore in his estimation does not change the fact that this was his responsibility - self assumed, nobody forced this on him - and he subsequently shirked it.

let's not forget that, shall we? personal responsibility is a female dog, especially with OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY. total accounting is called for, along with a lack of bad attitude toward others whose skepticism is completely legitimate in the face of less than ideal conditions. even if the money has been disbursed exactly as is claimed, a full accounting that can be verified by a third party and agreed upon by the donors involved was not provided.

this whole endeavor has hurt talkbass, and as such i'm pretty angry. something that could have been a great thing got permanently ruined because of someone's good intentions and poor execution/followthrough. we'll see if anyone is ever willing to help other folks out now through this website. :scowl:

+ 1,000,000

I'm really angry about this situation. BigMike should be really ashamed of the way he has gone about this and I feel it's in bad taste for any of his friends to come here and attempt to defend him. He should be the only one attempting to defend himself and/or apologize and he has taken the high road and chosen to be unwillinging to disclose any info and/or answer any specific questions about where the money went when it's as simple as looking in his paypal account.

Your right, and I feel it's in bad taste for those not even remotely involved to come in here and attack him.
Oh, wait.......that's right this is the internet.......

As far as I can tell, and please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think ANYONE defended his behavior/actions in this.

Yes, BMW is a friend of mine.
Yes, I think he had great intentions.
Yes, I think/feel that it is WAYYYYY out of his personality/person to try to willfully steal from any one.

I'm not sure if you think that is defending him.
I didn't in this case.
How he went about it is flat out wrong IMO.

Since we're talking about bad taste, has anyone shot a PM to him prior to starting this thread?????
Or did they just fire up the ol' PC and type away expecting everything to be all civil and stuff????
Hell, ask an opinion about SX vs. Sadowsky and it will get just about as heated in a thread like that as it is here!

Drop in an emotional, let alone some financial variables, and yeah, it's gonna be ugly.

But to call someone expressing an opinion of someone as they have directly experienced prior to this "in bad taste".........

You want to know the truth???
There is a MAJOR component to this whole thing that, and sit down for this, Mike has RESPECTFULLY left off these boards because it would be VERY damaging to someone.

So, in that regard, yeah he 'effed up royal in this.
But I still didn't see it coming and still think there is more to this than we know.

In bad taste..........

Calling out BMW's friends like that ticks me off.
I have not defended him in this.
Just tried to give a little back ground that's all.

And mystery, yeah, out of respect.
