Yeah.

But it will not deter me from trying to leave the planet a
slight bit better than when I got here.

'Do a good turn every day' is still a good way to live.
I recommend it.

Doesn't stop Sam Lewis (aka my dad) from being the best person I've ever met, doesn't stop me from always trying to do "right".

Sadly, it is still quite an accurate assessment of things.

:hmm:

maybe talkbass.com should have it's own donate link and it would be better handled that way. i don't know who owns talkbass but maybe they could be contacted somehow. maybe the suggestion isn't that great but it's really unfortunate that this has panned out the way that it has. isn't there some way to go after this guy?

Talkbass put the fork in donation threads after this got started, but before it went downhill. I imagine paul (owner) didn't/doesn't want the site as an entity to get caught up in a mess like this.

I take it any avenues of investigation have clsed since BigMikeW doesn't seem to have been back to TB since this thread started. Can Tombowlus add anything more or is this more or less the end?

I am doubtful that we will see any involvement from Mike on this thread. But here is what I can add.

By my records (which I can fax to anyone, if they want to confirm the specifics), on August 17, 2006, I received $1,048.38 (via paypal). Of these funds, $225 went to filings with the Ohio Secretary of State. $68.25 went towards an official record book. I checked with the accountant, and even though I know for a fact that he spent a good bit of time working on this, he is not charging us anything. We never did file with the IRS, so no fees expended, there.

This leaves $755.13. I do, however, need to file a Certificate of Dissolution, which requires a $50.00 filing fee, and notification of at least four state and local public offices. There is the possibility of having to owe additional fees, if any one of these offices believes that we should have filed something with them (like an annual corporate tax return), but did not.

So, if I could hold off on any final distribution until after I hear from those agencies, that would be appreciated. I would not be surprised if we encounter $50-$100 in additional fees, but I doubt that it would exceed this amount.

Tom.

I'm just sorry to see this was all thrown on your lap Tom.
Why? He doesn't have anything else going on. Oh, except he has a job, I think. Oh, wait. Didn't he just help launch a magazine? Besides those two things, he's free. Except for the marriage bit. But that shouldn't take up too much time. Less time than the kids, anyway. I guess we're including parenthood, too? What about life's general daily BS, I suppose you want to add THAT to this plate as well, huh? If you want to look at it that way, I guess it could be somewhat factually stated that his lap is already full. And not with hookers. Because with all the other stuff, who has time for hookers?

Mike

EDIT: That's it!! Tom, here's how it gets solved: have the hookers rectify the accounting and then pay themselves with the rest of the money. It might be the first honest buck those hookers have made in 2008 and it would do them good to get a jump start on the accounting courses I'm sure they're taking this fall at the local community college. No need to thank me.
