Musicians Relief Fund........two years and counting

"I don't have time for this" is a wonderful excuse for something that you decided you have time for when the money's coming in. I'm guessing many, many hours I've seen BigMikeW browsing TB over the past year or two doesn't count? I really feel for Jeff- he was flat-out used.

I couldn't disagree more. For the good of the forum and participants, I think this should not be let go. I think full disclosure and accountability is warranted.

As I stated earlier ...

If it is decided by the parties directly involved (either through donation, receipt or management of the funds) to pursue this matter further, I'd strongly suggest a disinterested 3rd party act to collect information and details and attempt to resolve this in the best interests of the individuals in the matter.

Our vicarious interest in the outcome doesn't play any significant role in any final decision. Frankly, it isn't important to me what happens, since I have no direct involvement. My earlier comments were simply a suggestion based on many years of resolving conflicts through administrative review ...

Understood, but I still think full disclosure of the outcome and circumstances is important to the community to allow others to judge whether certain members are in good standing or bad standing. Many transactions are made on this forum and I like to know who I can trust. Not to mention the possibility of someone's rep being dragged through the mud if in fact everything is on the up and up.

Ed, from all I know about you, you are one cool guy. And it pains me
to disagree with you, but I am with baba on this.

Actually, none of that will ever happen. BMW will never provide
any info to anyone to resolve anything IMO based on what he
has already stated in this thread. I have yet to see anything
to the contrary. When JuniorK brought the last thread up,
it resulted in a number of ad hominem attacks on posters
asking for clarification of the use of the funds. And resulted in
a temp TOS ban for some involved.

All I can say is that people on the board should be aware of
the specifics and facts about what was done and what
happened. The money is spent and gone and will neither be
returned, nor forwarded to where it was reperesented to be
going. And its never going to get accounted for, since suspect
that since it was co-mingled with personal funds. BMW has given
me no reason to think otherwise since he has never said where it
was spent.

But like I said, let it be a matter of public record. I, like Jive1,
think it is a serious enough issue that the solicitor should
resolve it (the accounting issue). I know I would, as I value
my reputation on this board.

I am not a donater to this cause, but I have followed the multiple threads on this issue for quite a while, and must say you are the most patient bunch I think I have ever known.

I'm actually starting to look forward to the 10 year aniversary thread on this topic.

Misuse of "charity" is very serious, and IMO there is already a ton of "evidence" in these threads already. I'm not accusing anyone here of misuse, but something has definitely run amuk here, and a lot of lip-service seems to be flying around.

I hope all that donated can get the answers they're looking for, I would suggest seeking "higher power" advice at this point...because at the rate this is going, you will never get this resolved.

There are three things in this story that I really find revolting :

1/ Funds were raised for Jeff, who was in a very serious situation : he never got a single penny from these funds ;

2/ If Junior had not awaken that topic on a regular basis, NO-ONE would have ever come and said what had become of this "charity" ;

3/ Anyone who will want to launch a charity here in the future, even for a really dramatic situation or even for the best of all causes, will have to face mistrust because of the cr*p that went out of this one.

I feel the same way.

Man... reading this thread and the past ones really left me with a weird feeling.

Sad news...

Takes a special kind of person to prey on peoples kindness.

This will be my ONLY comment in all this for now.

That was uncalled for- what is it based on??
Do you know BMW???
Did you in anyway contribute???
Would you like to see a positive outcome in this???

You did nothing but worsen something that could get really ugly.

Please, refrain from those type of comments.

We don't need them from PEOPLE like you.

This should remain civil, as a lot of folks want some resolve in this.

Keep it factual and civil and it will stay open.
Otherwise, it will be shut down.
Like the other ones.

Just because the guy didn't know him or didn't contribute doesn't mean he can't feel a certain way. I think a lot of the people who donated feel preyed on and he was just saying what I bet most people are feeling, so why don't you take a chill pill bud.

:hmm:

Calm yourself.

It is factual, and it is civil... From what I have read (I do have eyes and the ability to read..) it seems like there is something amiss here, READ the comments that people who ARE involved with this have written... That's what I did and it seems like my opinion is justified by that..

As always I could be wrong, I'll admit it if I am.. But the excuses he made and the fact some of the people who this "foundation" was made for didn't get anything really makes me think exactly what I said.

I am not the only person who thinks this. Better get used to these comments... ;)

I hope the issues gets resolved in the best way possible.

MikeW needs to step up and provide hard evidence of where each donation went.

Nothing less.

Taking people's money in the form of a donation is no small matter and he needs to take it seriously. We all have busy lives, but that doesn't mean we should shirk our responsibilities. Innocent until proven guilty for sure, but since (so far) MikeW isn't willing to provide evidence to prove he has done nothing wrong, I think the donators have every right to be suspicious... at the very least.

golly.

y'know, as murky as this whole deal is, it's still awesome that people were so eager to help out a brother in need.
no matter what happens with this ordeal, nuff respect to TBers for being so generous with their gear and funds and time.

I'm calm Skippy.

But your comment about it takes a special kind of person to pull on peoples hearts and run off with their money- which is what you basically said, is indeed harmful.

And like yourself, I can read. But thanks for the BOLD to remind me to do so.

Your opinion is as valid as anyone here.
If fact, voice it all day long.

Understand, in this/at this point, I'm not one way or the next about BMW.

We'll see how this plays out. My reply to your post, even though it was you opinion- and opinions are like aZZ holes, everyone has one, some just smell a lot worse than others- was to not start throwing around insinuations. As we have seen in past threads, everyone just piles on, uses italics, bold, underline and sometimes all of them together, or all sorts of Smilies :hmm::scowl:;) and it gets shut down.

Lets keep opinions like that to ourselves for now.
If things prove to be seedy and smell of the underbelly of ugliness, well then by all means let it fly!;)

I thought this stuff sounded familiar. I looked through my PayPal records and found that I sent BigMikeW a $20 donation on 9 February 2007. Apparently Mike's PayPal account is or was for Human Capital Consulting, LLC?

I'm sorry but when I read this I thought about the Seinfeld episode where George, at Xmas for gifts, says that he gave a donation in everyone's name to the "Human Fund"....hahahahaha

Regardless of whether I gave 100 dollars or not even one red cent, I can tell when something is afoul.

It's unfortunate, if Jeff would have received his funds since the other person did and and BIGMIKEW accounted for it I see no foul.

BIGMIKEW and his "I am washing my hands of this" attitude doesn't fly. I have 2 young kids and and a hectic schedule as well, but I would never avoid addressing an issue over a family matter. It may delay things a week or two, but I would still address it.

As a TalkBasser that would actually give to these kind of causes, this leaves a bad feeling for me.

I wish no ill for anyone, but if things aren't accounted for, a certain member deserves a mandated vacation.

Totally agreed on this...I wonder if "Johnny Law" would accept "I too busy to deal with this right now" as a defense.

Also, I gave to the "Meet Grace and her Bass" fund in a heartbeat...this situation, however, is making me skeptical whether I'll help out here again.

I think it's funny you're worried about being harmful of someone's feelings, while coming off like you did with this post. Or is calling someone skippy respectful?
