Musicman Bongo finally arrived today!

Well after waiting a painful 8 months my Bongo 5HH in Stealth Black arrived today. And what a beautiful sounding instrument it is.
I have not yet checked what tonal possibilities it will give me as I basically just plugged it in with everything set flat and even at flat settings it sounds "BRILLIANT".
I am still waiting for a white pickguard to come through the post which my dealer threw in free of charge and my free gift from Musicman which I think is one of their toolkits.

I am currently in Bongo Heaven!

Thanks Mate!.........Next purchase is going to be a Musicman Caprice, but I haven't decided which colour yet. I think I will look around this time to see if any dealers in the UK have them in stock rather than having one shipped direct from EB and having to wait 8 months for it to arrive........:rollno:

Really nice looking bass! I wasn't a fan of their looks when they first came out but they're grown on me a lot over the years. I never owned one but I have played one in Guitar Center and was really impressed with how great it felt and sounded. Congrats!

None in stock but Andertons in Guildford are claiming 5 days (!) on a handful of Caprice...

Thanks for the info!.........I wasn't planning on purchasing anytime soon, because my Bongo only arrived today and it wouldn't be right getting another Bass at the same time.But I will be looking to buy direct from a UK dealer when I decide to purchase a Caprice. But I am going to give it six months so I can concentrate on the Bongo.

Congrats! I got one of the PDN 2014 Bongo 6'ers and actually just restrung it today - had it set up with stupid high tension in a stupid low tuning, got a 35" scale bass for the job then had it sitting in a case for about a year. Can't wait for the truss rod to re-acclimate and get it in good playing shape again :D

In my experience being a Bongoloid for almost 7 or so years, the Bongo specializes in big, clean if not boomy, modern tones. But the EQ on it is very very flexible and useful, as well as the different pickup positions. As Sterling Ball himself said, a little goes a long way, in regards to the Bongo's EQ. Don't be afraid to experiment with it on your own, see what each knob does. Its a much more flexible and responsive EQ than your average preamp EQ.

Yep!......That is what I intend to do, have a good ole fiddle with it!. I must say that I am really impressed with the low B, I have tried a number of five string basses and was not happy with the low B. The low B on this Bongo is perfect.

As has been said, that EQ is a beast in its own right. I have found having a good eq/ preamp on my pedalboard with an always on setting and using the onboard bongo eq to make adjustments on the fly based on the room, the song, the proximity of Pluto, etc. Is a great way to go because as you will find, the bongo has many useable eq settings. Neck pickup with cut highs and cut hi mid or boosted lows and lo mid gets almost vintage. Or as vintage as a bongo can get.... great bass! Ive had "the great pumpkin" for over a year and a half and have yet to cease my adoration for it.

Fingers crossed my friend, I have put this on several forums today and not had one toilet seat comment, and to be fair everyone has said that it looks great!

I love the bongo look. Its like a mix of modern and vintage 50s scifi. Plus the paint job EBMM does is phenomenal. Apparently it's the same paint that goes on a maserati. And i think the toilet seat comments have settled down after a few people got carried away. Though they crop up every few months. I used to hate the way it looked when i first saw Ed Friedland's demo back in college but after hearing them played and reading so many stellar reviews they started to grow on me. Now I will never give mine up. Im on the lookout for the next batch of colors MM will put out in 2018.
