Musicman going in the wrong direction!!!

Well their new nut is crap every string enters at th same place and all it has is a little triangle cut out under where the string comes outta the nut, which is what makes it look fancy. Another thing is there is no gap between the screws for the pickup, where I rest my thumb on 01' sterling!!! And it osn't just a strait edge but a ramp so your thumb slides off durring heavy playing. My dad even noticed this difference from noodling on my sterling and then wanting to play the bass I was playing, because he noticed this bass (09' stingrayV) had the same "MusicMan" logo on it and he had never played a 5 string before. And when he played with te sterling he asked me the best place for resting your thumb and I told him to put it inbetween the screws on the pup. Well that is my story, have any of you guys thought the same thing???

Oh and the reason I thought it was amazing that my dad noticed that is he dosn't play bass but every time I play a riff he likes and he hears me he wants to attempt to play the bass. Reminds me of a little kid IMO LOL!!!

The bass was a EBMM StingrayV, sienna burst as fender calls it but I'm not sure what MM calls it but I'm sure what I'm talking about... anyways it has a black guard and black pbass knobs. THIS THING WAS PURE SEX!!! I hate Vs​ with a passion but I will get this bass no matter what!!!

Funny, I talked to the big boss over at Music Man about the lack of thumb rest on his bass guitars last Friday (such as the single pickup ones.) His condensed answer is that I was the only one that needed that and that if I don't like his designs, don't buy his bass guitars.

I disagree about the 'not resting the thumb'. When playing the low end you have a good anchor point as well as you could use this to dampen the other strings. Anyway, it's all personal based on individual techniques and so forth.

Best I could get but the holes are pointless crap

EDIT: And I do love the bass but the first thing I would do is replace the pup and replace the nut!

after a third/ fourth read through i am understanding what you are saying. this seems to be no big deal, some homemade work can be done to fix the finger rest problem * or working on floating thumb) and the nut shouldn't really concern you as it still seems to do its job?

Yeah, but not having my bass in the best shape it could be in bothers me... I went insane when my nut broke (on my sterling) so I went out that day cut like 5 lawns and got my mom to take me to the music shop and get the nut fixed. And with the pup... I decided I wouldn't just get a new one because the stock pup is so growly, so I'd get a chizel and knock that ramp thing off then sand it down, just like old LOL

Oh yeah I forgot the bass was an HS and had a maple fingerboard

I don't hate the nut for no reason... the holes that are suppost to help are a cheap rason for EB to say their basses are better... the holes are claming that each string enters the nut at a diff. place inproving intonation, well each strings enters at the front of the nut and leaves at the end so, don't know what to tell you!
