Nice bass @twistd . Love the new and improved Classic Sabres.
The bass is not as high as the picture seems. However, installation height took roaming animals, little ones and random furniture moves into consideration.
All the talk of strings has motivated me to try some DR's. I have a set of Fat Beams and Low Beams sitting around, though this bass is plenty fat and low with the medium/light gauge stock strings on.
It is interesting there are so many '79s in this club. Was it a record year for production? They look amazing, and I bet they sound even better.

Hey all, just scored a Sabre (1980). Needs a lot of work before it's playable. I have one small, dumb question for you guys that have owned one for a while- Do you do anything to secure the preamp in place? Mine is just sort of hanging from its wiring, so I loosely wrapped it in electrical tape to prevent it from contacting the pots, etc. Anyone know of a better idea? Thanks.

Can't answer your question. Assuming mine are already tied down on my two Sabres. But I can give you a number.

Could you attach an image of the control panel and cavity? Then I might be easier for others too see and give specific advice, on how to mount it. Best, MB
