Musicman Stingray CLUB

After trading my old Stingray for a 55-02, I quickly traded that for another Stingray. From now on, I only have eyes for Musicman basses.

Got this bass in a trade from Hyoshim, thank you, I love this bass!

I am glad that you like it. After trying out 55-02, I am thinking the same thing. Well, when I get tired of 55-02 I'll trade for Stingray 5. I am really a 5 string guy that is why I trade my stingray which have one less string.

Here's some SR5 love from our recent show at the Fox Theatre in Boulder. Mine is a '93, black/black with a maple board. All original, so far as I can tell, although I have a new set of pots sitting around waiting to be installed. I've had this bass for about 2 years.

I've a 98 black/maple sr4, used to also own a 99 black/maple sr5 which i sold in 2005. alas i dont have a birdseye neck, but i love her. shes my no1 as my dad paid for half of it. for that reason i'll never sell it. it will be passed down when the time comes.

heres a pic with the rest of the family. the schecter has just been traded for an OLP levin.

I originally posted pics of my two 'Ray's back in message #260 (my lovely old '89 SR5 and my more recent (2001) fretless StingRay (here's the direct link if you wanna check 'em out here).

Reason for posting now is that I was wondering about the EQ knobs of the above-mentioned fretless and their centre detents/notches. On mine, they are very pronounced and there is a very defined click when I either rotate the knob through the centre or go to the centre position.

It's as if there is no wear whatsoever on the travel of the knobs and they were fitted just yesterday. As far as I'm aware, no mods have been done to the bass.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has a similar thing with their EQ controls (assuming I've explained things clearly enough! :hmm:)

Also -- can I get a number please? :)

Mine is a '93 (and it's not the "above mentioned fretless"). None of the pots are noisy, but they all have lost the feel of the center detent to varying degrees. I purchased a set of replacement pots from Ernie Ball ($35) shortly after I bought the bass a couple of years ago, but attaching them to the circuit board preamp is beyond my capability and I've not managed to get the bass to the shop yet to have it done.
