I've owned a 3-band regular Sterling before, and I know the electronics are different generally in a Sterling compared to a Stingray. (Stingray sounds better to me actually) So I was curious if both the Stingray Classic and Sterling Classic have the same exact electronics. The Stingray Classic that I played at GC sounded awesome, but I really prefer the smaller neck on the Sterling. If it sounds the same as the Stingray, I'd go that way most likely.
I'm a believer that the weight in this case has something to do with the tone of the Stingrays. Heavier being better within reason. I'm certain that this can be debated though.
You might want to check in at the EBMM board. I've never played a Sterling so I am far from an expert as anyone.
